"Hey Lark

"Hey Lark. How are you doin'?" Maya rolled her eyes at how thick she appeared to be at the moment as she fondled her sibling's forehead whose entire visage was growing ever deadening and the envenom released by the Burned One's assault was rendering his tendrils more conspicuous, "nevermind, it's so obvious that you look like shit."

Lark didn't stand a chance unless they killed the Burmed One who ambushed him, but given the vast amount of those entities in the forest and Maya's incapability of combatting them with her powers made it all virtually unfeasible. They were in the greenhouse and while Terra's father dealt with Mr. Silva with Terra and Sam who was apparently her brother, whose situation was no better, Maya kept an unresponsive Lark company.

Headmistress Dowling, after learning of the events, had asserted that she would inform her parents of what had happened, ignoring the begging stares from Maya, who was concerned about their reactivity.

Riven re-entered holding a flask of water and took a seat alongside the girl, whose eyes were still bathed in the tears she couldn't stop sheaving anymore, "Want some water?" Maya shook her head in retaliation, still keeping her gaze on Lark's wan physique, never once ceasing to caress his head, and Riven actually shrugged and sipped the water for himself.

"I think you need to get some rest," Riven prompted, angling to dislodge the girl from her seat, but getting no reaction, "where's the plant freak when you need her?" He grumbled to himself, and at that moment he spotted a guy striding into the greenhouse, directed towards them.

"Maya?" At Aeden's familiar voice, Maya raised her eyes to meet Aeden's concerned ones, who then flicked his gaze to the stretched out body, " Shit. What have you done mate.."

Riven tried his best to negate the twinge of uneasiness he felt at the sight of the boy approaching the blonde a little too much and reaching out to touch her shoulder, and his query came more harshly than it should have been, "And who might you be?"

"That's Aeden, don't you remember?" Riven's lips curved into a slight baleful smirk as he recalled the boy he had conversed with from Maya's phone.

"I'm River," Riven responded, finding contentment in seeing Aeden's eyes bulging in recognition.

"River? As in her b-"

"Riven," Maya chortled unhappily, giving Riven a silent look, "And I don't have a boyfriend."

"Yeah, because we are friends with benefits-"

Aeden's jaw reached the floor as Maya spluttered gibberish, her cheeks flushing faintly pink as she failed to string a coherent phrase together. She let out a breath of relief when Musa stepped in, seeking the girl and straightaway sensing the troublesome atmosphere, she reached out to Maya, "Come on let's go to bed, you are tired."

"But...what about my brother?" Maya returned her eyes to Lark's face, touching his forehead.

"I'll be watching him, don't worry." Aeden offered her reassurance, Maya going to protrude but he gave her a safe look, "I'll be his guardian angel tonight." He smiled warmly, Musa grasping her hand and getting her up from her seat.

"Right.." Musa jostled her eyes suspiciously between the two lads, her rebuking look lingering more on Riven, who flashed her an unfriendly scowl in reaction to her accusatory look.

Maya wiggled uneasily from the distrusting stares between the pair, Aeden clearing his throat, disrupting them, "Okay," he angled his head towards the exit, "better get some sleep.."

"And what are you going to do all by yourself?" Riven stood up, racking an eyebrow, "Because if you want to jerk off I got a friend who would tag along-"

"Shut up!"

"So, are you going to explain what was going on in there?" Musa rolled back over in her bed, her headphones looping loosely around her neck and her face propped on top of her hand

"So, are you going to explain what was going on in there?" Musa rolled back over in her bed, her headphones looping loosely around her neck and her face propped on top of her hand.

Maya shifted the blanket slightly from her head, the light bulb lit by her glaring into her sleepy eyes and rendering her muddled expression more prominent, "What do you mean?"

"I know it!" Terra burst into the room, a mischievous grin on her lips as she skipped over to Maya's bed, sending her jolting off the mattress and nearly toppling off her bed, "Someone's got a crush on Mr. bad, crack-addled, nasty boy."She wiggled her brows suggestively, Musa snickering at the sight of Maya jerking her head in complete denial.

"We're not even friends!" She rambled, flicking a pillow to a jubilant Terra, Muse snorting in unbelief.

"Have you already forgot that I'm a mind fairy?" She enquired, lifting herself up and adopting a sitting posture, "therefore I know everything that goes on in your pretty little head. Although I don't approve of any potential involvement with that douchebag."

"But i do!" Maya gawked as the two of them proceeded to discuss her non-existent love life. "I mean, Riven's not really my favourite but if he makes you happy then..." Terra slung an arm around her shoulder, tousling her hair in fondness, "I approve."

"Are we really discussing something inexistent? I'm single and I'm glad about it," Maya glanced down at her hands, "plus I don't think it's the time to be thinking about that after what happened to my brother."

Musa, sensing the change in Maya's aura, adopted a more thoughtful tone, "Hey, Lark's going to make it. The Dowling will send the best specialists to kill the Burned Ones and your brother will come back as before. We just have to remain positive."

"Right. Dowling," Maya reiterated belittlingly, "I don't trust her and I don't think it's as easy as you think. I'm going to kill that stupid monster. Mark my words." A look of self doubt flashed across her eyes as she murmured, looking down at her hands,"Of course, after I have practiced."
