CARDS
I don't like losing.❞

Odessa sat across from Bucky at their table with a soft smile. She was currently teaching him how to play cards with the deck that Pierce had gotten her. It was a Sunday, the only day on the time table that she and Bucky had off at the same time.

She was teaching him how to play Rummy, a game that she had picked up from her first set of foster parents. They were definitely the nicest set that she had ever lived with.

"Ha, I won again." Bucky said as he placed his cards down on the table with a smirk.

"How is it that I've only just taught you and you're winning?" Odessa questioned sceptically, as this was his fifth game in a row that he had won and they'd only played six.

"Fast learner." He shrugged, he ran his tongue against his bottom lip before asking, "Does it make you a good player if you taught me but still managed to lose?" Bucky had a cocky smile on his face.

"Shut up." She rolled her eyes before standing up and walking behind the man.

"Giving up so soon?" He questioned with a half hearted chuckle. She wrapped her arms around Bucky's shoulders and that's when she noticed the abundance of cards on his lap.

"You cheated." Odessa questioned shocked as she pulled away from the boy. Bucky stood up, accepting that he had been caught.

"I don't like losing." He playfully pouted, hoping to get her to forgive him. Odessa shook her head, but Bucky could still see the smile on her face. She squealed as Bucky wrapped his arms around her waist and threw her over his shoulder.

"Put me down." She laughed as Bucky span them around in circles multiple times, making the girl dizzy, before she placed her down on the bed. "Cheater." She tainted.

Bucky smiled so widely that his cheeks began to hurt, but he couldn't help it. The girl made him happy. She made him feel complete, despite only knowing her a month at the most.

He shook his head, cupping her cheeks and connecting their lips. He would do anything to spend every day with her like this.

Odessa gripped his shirt tightly and pulled him into the bed with her. They were still sharing a small single bed, but they didn't complain as long as they were next to each other. Most of the time, Odessa slept on top of Bucky, so they had plenty of room.

The brunette chuckled as she banged he head against the wall. She brought her hand up to rub the spot that she had just hit.

"Are you okay?" Bucky questioned as he pulled away from the girl. Odessa nodded with a smile. "I think we need an upgrade." Bucky motioned to the bed.

"You wanna ask them or shall I?" Odessa raised her brows questioningly.

"Leave it to me." Bucky smirked, a plan forming in his head.

~

Odessa had just come back from the showers with a smile on her face, only for her to walk into the room and Bucky be sat on a now double bed with a bouquet of roses in his hands.

Bucky instantly stood up once he saw the girl, placing the flowers out in front of him anxiously.

"Are these for me?" Odessa questioned as she took the flowers from Bucky's grip. Bucky nodded with a shy smile, blush forming on his cheeks.

Odessa brought the flowers up to her nose to smell them, a beaming smile forming on her face.

"They're perfect." She whispered looking up to him, standing on her tip toes to place a kiss on his cheek.

"Thought I'd take you on a proper date." Bucky smiled motioning back to the table that was perfectly set with a candle in the middle.

Odessa placed the flowers in the vase that was conveniently on the chest of draws. The brunette smiled towards the man as he pulled the chair out for her to take a seat before tucking her back in and taking a seat himself.

"So gentleman like." Odessa smiled, wondering what he was like back in 1940. If he would be the same person he is now.

"Anything for my girl." He flashed her a toothy smile. The food wasn't anything special, just the same regular meals they always had. But that didn't seem to phase them.

Once Bucky had finished eating he stood up from his seat, offering his hand out for the girl and pulling her up and into his chest. He wrapped his arms around her waist and hers around his shoulders as music began playing.

Odessa chuckled softly, allowing Bucky to rest his head against hers. She shouldn't help but smile at the fact that Bucky had gone to all of this trouble just for her.

She did wonder how hard it was for him to convince Rumlow and Pierce to set all this up for him.

"Will you walk me home?" Odessa whispered as the music stopped.

Bucky chuckled as placed his arm out for the girl to link hers with, they walked around the room for a minute before stopping at the bed.

"Thank you. This has been a truly magical night, James." Odessa looked up to the boy, who's eyes hadn't ever left hers.

"You're welcome, Cherry." Bucky smiled as he leant down and placed a soft kiss on her lips before they climbed into the new bed, just as the lights went out.

Odessa sighed as she felt the bed around her, she seemed to have too much space, which she didn't like.

It seemed as if Bucky had the same thought as his strong arms wrapped around her waist and pulled her closer to him.

The brunette smiled, thankful that she wasn't the only one. She wrapped her leg around Bucky's torso and rested her head on his chest, allowing him to trace patterns on her skin, sending her into a peaceful sleep.
