Fragments of our memories
weightless and nimble,
float through the space between us
they twirl through busy streets
dance in the glow of the mid-morning sun
they are silent, intangible
yet their power is somehow unmatched
they form a tether.
those bits and pieces of you and me
that we can't quite remember but can't quite forget
Bind together
so quietly that it's thunderous
and our ears ring out with sparkling remnants of our time
and that tether
it keeps us together, it holds us close when being near isn't possible
so that from oceans away, hemispheres apart
I can reach out and hold you
And everything will be ok
