Chapter 13 The 57th Expedition Part 1

The day of the expedition has now come, and they were infront of the gates of Karanese District.

"Commander, we're departing soon." A soldier informed Erwin

"We've lured away all nearby Titans!"

"Thirty seconds until the gate closes!"

Y/N was beside Christa

"It's the Survey Corps! The coolest soldiers inside the walls!" Y/N heard a kid

Y/N looked to the side and saw two children looking at them in awe.

"It's the Wings of Liberty!" The other kid said

Y/N just waved while smiling at them and the two kids saluted.

"You seem to like children." Christa said

"Huh?! It's not like that!" Y/N said

"Sorry, let me rephrase it. You seem to be good with children." Christa said

"Ah... Must be nice to have one instead of being in this war." Y/N said

"I agree." Christa smiled and an arrow struck Y/N's heart

"Ahahaha... Marry me." Y/N thought with a red face

Unknown to Y/N and Christa, Ymir was just behind them and half of her head was shadowed.

Ymir wiped her hand on Sasha's back

"Huh?! What did you wipe on my back?!" Sasha asked trying to reach her back

"My trust in others." Ymir said

"It's time! In mere moments, mankind will advance again. Show us what you're made of!" A Scout said

The Scouts raised their blades and fists as they screamed.

"Open the gate!"

The gates opened

"SUSUME!" Erwin shouted and their horses started running

"We now begin the 57th Expedition!" Erwin shouted

"I just hope this plan goes well, shorty."
Y/N thought

"SUSUME! SUSUME!" Erwin shouted

When they got out of the old town, Erwin raised his arm.

"Assume the long-distance scouting formation!" Erwin shouted

"See you, Christa!" Y/N said and he got further

"Be careful!" Christa shouted

"Same with you!" Y/N said

Y/N's horse ran further away until Y/N saw himself being alone.

Suddenly, Y/N saw a red flare fired on his right.

"The vanguard scout squad encounters a Titan more often. Upon sighting a Titan, they will fire a red smoke signal. Soldiers that see it should relay by firing one of the same color. After observing the signals to determine the Titan's position, the Commander will fire a green smoke signal that will indicate the formation's new course. Thus, the entire formation can advance to it's destination while avoiding the Titans. However, terrain or obstacles can delay a sighting, which may allow Titans to breach the formation." Y/N remembered Ness tell them

"What color is a carrot? I think it's uhh... I think it was uhh... red." Y/N said and he fired a red smoke signal

Y/N continued until he saw a black smoke signal.
