y/n's pov

"alright so, our first game is against mujinazaka"

"yeah, they mostly work on offense, so expect their defense to be on the weaker side."

i said, reaching over the table to grab a piece of sushi,

"but of course, don't be trying dumb shit... atsumu"

"what?! me!?"

"yes, you. you love to try dumb shit right when we are ahead and then the other team closes the gap."

suna pointed out and everyone murmured in agreement.

"you guys suck."

we all laughed it off and continued to look over the teams and our plan for the weekend. kita wasn't being as talkative as usual, sure he didn't talk much anyways, but when it came to volleyball he would talk more.

"kita, what do you think?"

i spoke up, his eyes met mine before he started talking,

"sometimes, we get too in our heads, we shouldn't do that. we should just play how we know to play."

"well spoken. i agree."

"oh shit, it's almost midnight. you guys should probably be getting home."

"yeah, we'll see you guys tomorrow."

every one said their goodbyes and went home.

"alright, i'm going upstairs."

"goodnight, love you."

"love you too, don't stay up too late."

i said, eyeing the two as i went to my room. i checked my phone's notifications, nothing interesting. i pulled the covers off my bed and laid down, letting my drowsiness take over.

game point, the score was 26-25. we were in the lead. i took my spot in the middle back, waiting for the serve to come over, the opposing team was shiratorizawa. their setter was serving, a difficult serve to receive, but not impossible, it couldn't be worse than ushijima's serves. i remember his serves bruised my arms, so this was nothing compared to that. i looked in the crowd behind her, seeing a certain someone, his brown eyes meeting my own e/c ones. he gave a small thumbs up, a small gesture that always calmed me down. it was like having a silent conversation, it had been this way since our first year. we would always reassure each other, even though he had never played, i still encouraged him to do his best. now we were both captains of our teams, still cheering each other on. i focused back on the game infront of me, their setter getting ready for the whistle. my hands almost hit the ground as i waited, my body low and ready, then she approached. her serves were killers, but there was a silver lining, it always curver to the back left corner. my body moved towards the spot, picking up the ball in almost an instant. i rolled over my shoulder going to cover our outside as she went up. she aimed between the blockers sending it straight to their libero, damn. i watched the setters hands, the slightly started aiming back behind her
