--sad ending--

(cw: death)

Midas huffed and grabbed his father's shoulders. Looking him dead in the eye.

"Your daughter could be missing!" He said, raising his voice.

"She will be fine! She's snuck out plenty of times.' His father answered.

"No, she hasn't. You don't even know you're own daughter. And if she snuck out I'm sure she wouldn't ignore me." Midas said and huffed, he let go of their father and looked down.

"If she's not back by tonight, we're looking for her.."

——

A few days went by, about 3 and of course Midas did everything he could to try and get in touch with his sister. Their parents finally started becoming concerned, they called their friends, telling them to keep a look out for their girl.

Midas skipped work today, his phone blowing up with texts from everyone except who he wanted to text him back. He lazily got up and left his room, making his way to y/n's room. He walked into his sister's room and went and sat on her bed. He laid on the expensive sheets that she had covering her mattress. He smelled the scent of her, the very scent she smelled of everyday. Her favorite perfume mixed with the neutral scent of their body wash.

Did Midas think she ran away? Yes, he hoped she did. Instead of thinking someone broke in and took her, harmed her. The thought of his baby sister out there, most likely alone and helpless, made him tear up. Oh boy did he miss her. You would think a family as rich as theirs would have cameras in every part of their house to capture a moment like this, but no. They did not.

Midas got up and wiped the tears from his cheeks. He looked down at his hands, the gold slowly rising up from his wrists to his elbows. He hasn't been taking his meds either, he couldn't. He didn't have the energy to do nearly anything since y/n's been gone. He looked at the time and realized the day had already gone by. He teared up again and began to silently sob into the pillows. He cried himself to sleep that night.

And the next night.

And the next night.

And the one after that.

It's been a week now, no sign of y/n. Midas was a mess, the gold on him was inching up his shoulders, almost covering his neck. His parents begged him to take his meds but he didn't care to.

"Midas, we're worried. You haven't been taking your med-"

"Mom, I don't care." Midas snapped, turning around. The pen he held in his hand turned to solid gold in an instant. "Y/N is still missing! And you care about me!? At least I'm here! Alive!... Christ, mom what if.. what if she's.. what's if she's dead, mom?" Midas said, breaking down in tears. He dropped to his knees, curling up into a ball.

"Midas, hun..." their mom said softly, tears in her eyes. She just decided to leave him be, turning and leaving him.

Midas felt so alone, so lost. He just wanted y/n to be back home. He worried about her more than anyone. Even their own parents.

It's their fault if she ran away, Midas thought. Of course they don't care.

——

Y/N counted the days she's been gone on her hands, seven.

"A week.." she mumbled to herself. She had ran out of clean clothes so she was wearing the outfit she had on the day she left. She'd lost a few pounds from not eating as much but she didn't care. She cut her hair to change its style, after seeing posters about her go up around town she felt the need to change who she was as much as she could.
