You smiled as you looked down at the message Y/BF/N had just sent. After the first time you failed you had little to no hope for this one but you finally did it! you sent her a quick message back letting her know the good news before heading home with your big brother.

Once home, your parents finally gave you the keys to their old car, something you had been waiting for (for what felt like forever at this point!). You let them know you were going to take it for a drive around the neighbourhood and they gave you the typical 'drive at the speed limit' speech that you had heard a million times before. As you pulled out of the driveway, you stuck the radio on and drove aimlessly, getting used to your new toy. Despite the excitement, you couldn't help but feel slightly let down.

6 months ago...

You'd finally arrived at Kai's house for your weekly driving lessons from him. As your boyfriend, he insisted that he was going to be the one to teach you how to drive (mainly so he could take all the credit when you passed your test) but you didn't mind. It gave you quality time to spend together and have fun when he wasn't training. Kai drove the car out of his long driveway and drove slightly upwards towards a quieter area, where you could practice. You couldn't help but admire how good he looked when driving, from his chiselled cheekbones, to the one hand on the steering wheel, the other on your thigh. You eventually got to the area where Kai planned on teaching you, and spent the next 2 hours there learning about everything you needed to know. You were feeling pretty confident, but Kai still insisted that he drove the car back to his place. Once you got back, you spent the night at his, feeling exhausted from all the information you had just been processing, and decided to have a quiet night in and reflect on the perfect day you had just had.

back to reality

You snapped back to reality, and found yourself subconsciously driving towards Kai's neighbourhood. You stopped yourself, and turned around before you got sucked into a situation you would inevitably regret. You drove up to the local supermarket, and felt a tear hit your thigh as you were on your way there. You couldn't help but feel so lonely, yet so in love with Kai still.

You pulled into the local supermarket's parking lot so you could gather your thoughts and drive home with a clear head. You wondered about everything to do with Kai. About Sophia, and her gorgeous blonde hair. About your relationship, and how you two were meant to be together forever. About how different life could be if you were driving home to Kai right now, instead of sitting in a parking lot in tears.

You wiped your eyes, and decided to throw away all thoughts of Kai. In the end, your relationship was getting toxic, and wasn't working for either side, especially when Sophia came back into the picture. Her and Kai were destined to be together, and now you had to understand that moving on is the best thing for both of you to do. No matter how many times you two said forever to each other, it didn't happen and the best thing you could do now was move on.

You started the drive back to your house, radio on full blast playing your favourite bad bitch song, break free. You belted the lyrics as loud as you can and began to pull up your driveway. You turned the radio off and made sure the car was locked before walking up to the front door. As you got closed, you saw the figure of a man with his hood up. You coughed slightly, and the person you least expected to be there turned around. You noticed the tears streaming down his face, the baggy clothes and the defeated posture.

You whispered in shock 'Kai? Why are you here? What happened?'
