Nasir's mind was a vacuum full of unwanted thoughts by the time he made it far away from Hadassah's saloon, and he didn't like it in any way. Not even the frustrating sound of horns and wheels could do anything to clear his mind. Toni Davies was a tool of the devil, and he should stay very far away from her; everything about her spelled evil. How else could she have done this?He didn't like the feelings she evoked in him. He was a man with responsibilities and duties he had spent his life living by, and never for once did he find himself distracted. Now, there was some sex goddess from hell who wanted to make him lose himself with just a look. She had to be a devil incarnate; how else could she have elicited those emotions in him? It was hard to shake off that splitting feeling of desire that still coursed through his veins at the sight of her, that feeling that made him want to rip off that hoodie she was putting on for whatever reason he couldn't fathom and take her right where she stood. That nerve-crashing want that made him weak to his knees; not for once had a woman made him feel this way, not with one look.
Nasir blamed all this on her; it had to be because of who she was; although she hadn't been dressed like he had seen her dress in most of those magazines his sisters gush about, she was still who she was, and her effect on him wasn't welcomed. He didn't like the idea of wanting a woman like her or the fact that she was able to do things to him if at all it would be anyone, not her. He had heard the news, and he had seen how scanty her clothes were usually; she was the embodiment of sex, nothing more. And someone like that didn't suit him, not even for a quick rumble in the sack.
Feeling this way towards her was totally pointless because Nasir could tell she didn't feel the same. He remembered how she had shifted back with obvious disgust when he faced her back at ITY. He couldn't see her eyes because of the sunshades, but he felt the cold rejection from her. She, like every other human in Lagos, was disgusted by the look of a dirty Hausa bikeman. But he couldn't help it; the fire in her voice interested him; he could still remember how much it burned when she had questioned his behavior; Nasir knew he was being unnecessarily hard on her. It's not like she had ever done anything to hurt him before, and he wasn't one to judge someone based on hearsay, but it was safer to judge her than to admit to the terrible fact that he wanted her, the Nollywood slut. It's been over six years since the scandal. Nasir doesn't really know what happened, but he had heard his sisters gossiping about it one time, and it had been all over Nigeria. Nasir, at first, had cautioned his sisters, warning them against judging and tarnishing a person's image without proper evidence, but now he was doing the same because he was a coward. But it was safer to believe she was what she was rumored to be than to give room to the pain he had heard underlying her voice as she spoke to him.
But it was also a long time ago; most of the people who held mob sticks of words against her then are the ones who are groveling at her feet now; her new nickname is the Pride of Nigeria. She has made most Nigerians proud by going out of Nigeria and being the center of attention in Hollywood and all over the world. He even heard that she had won four Emmys and two Oscar awards, and he knew that was a big deal. But none of this did anything to ease the tension he felt; he didn't care what she had achieved; she still wasn't someone he should desire. The most frustrating part of it was the fact that she wasn't even dressed like she should have been. There was no single effort made in her attire of today, and yet she could do that, it's obvious she was a witch.
Nasir felt something vibrate on his lap, jolting him awake and bringing him back to the realization that he was still on the main road, riding. It was by the grace of Allah that he hadn't met with an accident yet. He cleared his mind off every thought of Toni Davies and found a place to park his bike, wondering if Toni was done with her nonsense so soon. He fished out his vibrating phone to see that his mum was the one calling; her call set him back to the right and further explained the reason Toni Davies was a devil he should avoid.
