Me Without You

ME WITHOUT YOU

A poem by little_butterfly_14

He brought a smile to my lips,

He never jumped off ship,

He always stayed by my side,

But sat and watched as I lied.

He protected my world,

As everything around me whirled,

He gave me a hope,

When I never could cope.

He gave me something,

When all I saw was nothing,

He stopped me from going wrong,

But all I did was go along.

I made him my everything,

I made him king,

He didn't know it,

But I was tearing bit by bit.

He stepped back,

I was left to crack,

He left me to dream,

Knowing all I would do was scream.

He stepped away to ignore,

I fell to the floor,

My castle came crumbing down,

And I was left to drown.

He promised me,

That he would never leave me to see,

A world with us separated,

Guess that idea just deflated.

I watch him closely now,

All I wonder is how?

Maybe I was never enough,

I know I was never that tough.

Why don't you get,

I was trying to protect?

I didn't want you to hurt,

I just wanted to stay alert.

I'm sorry I let you down,

But I only see me frown,

Guess me without you was good for you,

I wish I could say the same too.
