The Path Behind
A poem by little_butterfly_14
I walked straight
Nowhere else to go
Didn't look left or right
Just headed for the door
I stopped and stared
At the crossroads in front of me
Which way should I go
Or should I go back and flee
The magic of the mind is fatal
It lets you create a mess
Before you know it, all will be gone
And you'll be left to confess
The straight path looked tedious
The new one got me curious
Little did I know
That this path would be injurious
The path behind failed me
It was crumbling to endless bounds
One step was all it took
And then I could hear no sounds
I walked ahead on the unknown path
Trying to explore
All I saw was land
But it was a whole lot more
I looked around
Afraid to take another step
And it wasn't much longer
Before I was stuck in a web
I still found no end
But I still walked back
I must and will get onto
The path I found black
