Chapter 1: It feels like a dream

Hailey's POV
"Jake! Are you almost done? The food is ready!" I called.
"Coming!"
"What took you so long?"
"Sorry, Piper lost her mermaid."
"Ok?" I laughed.
"Her mermaid teddy, not a real mermaid. Do those even exist?"
"I have no clue, it would be cool if they did." I chuckled.
"The food smells amazing, princess."
"Thanks, Jake. Can you call Piper down?"
"Sure," he smiled, walking up to the stairs, "PIPER GET DOWN HERE."
I laughed and started to slice the pizza, Piper insisted on pizza even though Jake and I wanted a romantic dinner just the two of us, we were stuck babysitting.
"Yummy, pizza! I'm so glad mommy agreed that Hailey could come! Now I'm not stuck with Jakey!" Piper squealed.
"Hey! I'm an amazing babysitter AND brother!"
"Yeah but, Hailey would be better." Piper giggled.
"I'm gonna have to agree." I laughed.
"Very funny, let's just start the movie."
"Can I watch Stranger Things with you guys?" Piper begged, giving us puppy dog eyes.
"Gosh no, even I get scared." I replied.
"But you get scared like so easily." Jake smirked.
"Okay, bad example. Even Zander gets scared." I chuckled.
"That was dramatic...he was squeezing the life out of Luke." Jake muttered.
"Yep, but they are still the world's cutest couple."
"Please can I watch it!! I'm 8 years old after all.
"It's not up to me Piper, it's up to Jake." I said.
"How about you go and watch some youtube and Hailey and I will stay down here."
"Uh no, mommy said I can't leave you alone together because who knows what will happen."
"She did not say that Piper!"
"Okay but like, you guys aren't old enough to have kids so I better stay down here."
"WHAT THE HELL PIPER." Jake and I both yelled.
"Just go Piper," Jake said, sternly.
Piper walked up the stairs while Jake and I sat on the couch.
"Finally some time alone with my princess."
I put my head on his shoulder and he put his arm over me. I felt like the luckiest girl in the world.
"Jake...something has been bothering me lately..." I mumbled.
"What is it? Did I do something wrong?"
"No! You're perfect but...do you remember when Drew ran away after he saw us together?"
"Yeah..that was a little weird."
"Well when I opened the door...he hugged me for some reason.." I muttered.
"D-did you hug him back?" Jake mumbled.
"No, why would I? I love you and you only." I smiled, giving him a quick kiss on the lips.
"And I love you, Hailey."
"Ew, you guys are gross." Piper said, startling us.
"Hey! At least I love a real person!" Jake teased.
"Why are you guys so mean all of a sudden?" Piper said, starting to fake cry.
"I agree, Hailey is the meanest person ever."
"That's rude!" I joked, making a fake sad
face.
"I'm sorry, please don't tell Zander I don't want to die yet." Jake chuckled.
"Maybe I will~" I teased.
"You know, in school, like 5 boys have asked me to date them." Piper said.
"WHAT. YOU TELL THEM NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS." Jake yelled.
"Jake, calm down. You're acting like Zander!" I laughed.
"We finally have something in common." Jake laughed.
"Probably the only thing." I joked.
"I'm tired," Piper whined.
"Then go to bed," Jake chuckled.
"Fine, way to be a buzzkill!" Piper replied, running up the stairs yet again.
"Your family confuses me." I giggled.
"Yeah I have a strange family. Anyways, wanna start the movie?"
"Sure, what movie did you pick?"
"A horror movie."
"JAKE! You know I can't stand those!"
"Don't worry you'll have me, I am the worlds best boyfriend after all." He winked.
"Yeah, yeah just start it."
Jake went into Netflix on the TV and pressed play on 'Dead by doll'. It was going to be a rough few hours.

Jake's POV
It was about 5 minutes into the movie and Hailey was already clinging onto me. To make her laugh I decided to throw a piece of popcorn at her. Sure enough, it did the trick.
"Hey! Why'd you do that." she said, laughing.
"To lift up your mood,"
"Maybe you are the world's best boyfriend." She smiled hugging me tightly. I smiled, but quickly noticed she was shivering.
"You okay?" I asked.
"Y-yeah, j-just c-cold." she shivered.
"Take my jacket!" I said, taking it off and giving it to her.
"Are you sure? I don't want you to be cold.." she muttered.
"Positive. After all, my princess deserves best, right?" I winked, putting it around her shoulders.
It was nearly the end of the movie and I noticed Hailey was very tense, because whenever there was suddenly a loud knock on the door, she screamed and put her head in my chest.
"Relax, it is just someone at the door." I laughed, getting up to answer. I opened the wooden door to see...Drew?! What's he doing here?
"Uhm, hi?" I said.
"Jake, we need to talk."
"Who is it Jake?" Hailey asked, walking up to the door, yawning.
"It's Drew. Hey, do you need some sleep? You look tired." I smiled, putting a strand of hair behind her ear.
"I guess so, I'll wait on the couch." Hailey said, yawning again and walking away.
"I see you two are happy." Drew muttered.
"Do you have a problem with us or something?" I asked, sternly.
"N-no! I'm happy for you..you weren't really getting anywhere with Daisy."
"Alright well, it's almost midnight. You should get home."
"Wait!"
"Yeah?"
"Tell Hailey, hi."
I slammed the door, did Drew like Hailey? I walked back, angrily to the couch. Sitting down with an annoyed glare.
"W-what's wrong?" Hailey asked sleepily.
"Nothing, it's nothing!"
"Did I do something wrong?!" she asked quickly, with a worried look.
"No, princess. You are the most perfect girl I have ever met. I just think...Drew is up to something."
"Oh, what exactly?"
"I'm worried that he likes you...and that you will fall for him.."
"Why would I fall for someone when the perfect guy is right here?"
"Thanks...I love you."
"I love you to" she smiled, putting her head on my lap, falling asleep in seconds.
This all felt like a dream...
