Unexpected Love

✞ 1 ✞ The way home

"Get up!" screamed my little brother Noah, who was standing outside my door. I woke up and looked at the clock.

7:00am

"Noah, it's not that late!" I screamed back. I groaned and let my face sink into my pillow.

I got out of bed and went to the bathroom to shower and brush my teeth. After that I did my make-up and change. My mom would not let me out with tight clothes but most of the time it doesn't bother me, because I love to wear oversize hoodies and joggers. We don't have a strict dress code at our school and I love this. Today I don't want to look homeless like usual.

I walk to school alone for about 15 minutes every day. In this area it is not that safe, which is why 15 minutes is clearly too much.

I survived the way to school and was on my way to the entrance. Suddenly someone grabbed my wrist and turned me around and kissed me. I recognized him immediately. "Hola hermosa." said Jake. I smiled and said, "Hola mi amor."

We smiled and went in the school together. He kissed me on my forehead and said, "Y/n I see you again tomorrow morning before school starts, because today I have football training after school. I want you to take care of yourself as always on the way home. I heard that there was something going on on the streets of the Santos, because someone from the Santos came back from prison. Te amo!" He walked into his class when I nodded and smiled.

I love this man, every day he tells me to take care of myself and often took me home even though he doesn't live nearby. I know which Santo he meant. It was Spooky, he's Cesar's brother. I dont know him, but everyone fears him.

Cesar was younger than me but sometimes we talk to each other, because we have the same way to school. Sometimes I prefer to walk alone, as he is often with three friends and I don't want to disturb them. But I've talked to them many times and I think they're very nice. I think we're friends, but I have no idea when you realize that you're friends with someone.

My school day was finally over and I wanted to go home quickly. It was very warm so I put my jacket in my school bag and walked home. As I walked home, I was thinking about my topic for my next English lecture. A red Impala drives past me and a voice interrupted my thoughts.

The man in the car said to me, "Looking like a fine ass hyna!" I just kept walking and tried to ignore the one in the car, but the car drove slowly next to me. I didn't know what to do and just said, "Thanks". The situation was uncomfortable for me and I tried to walk home.

"Do you need a ride princesa?" he said. I kept walking and said, "No thanks, I would like to keep walking." I was visibly tense. The men said, "Okay nena, I won't bother you anymore, just tell me your name."

I stopped and I'm so fucking tired of this conversation. I told this guy that I don't want to go with him... what does he not understand about it?

His car stopped too. "My name is Y/n, can I walk home in peace now, please?" I asked. He smirked. "Oh, and don't call me nena or princesa. I have a boyfriend and just want to walk alone to my house." I said nicely.

At the word 'boyfriend' he looked a little annoyed, but then he went back to his normal expression. "Alright ma, I see you."

I hope not, I thought. I walked home quickly, but feel watched all the time. I went into the house and closed the door behind me. I went to my room and did my homework.

In the evening Jake texted me and we talked for a while.

Jake: Hey girl, how you're doing?

Me: Good, how was the training. Anything new?

Jake: No, all is normal. Want to go to a party tomorrow?

Me: Sure, why not. Pick me up at 8:00pm?

Jake: Yesss hermosa, see ya...

Me: Love ya

Jake: Love ya 2

I guess, I'm going to a party tomorrow. I packed my things for tomorrow, lay down in my bed and soon drifted off into a peaceful sleep.
