"What happened to your foot?" asked my mom as I was walking out of my room to eat breakfast

"What happened to your foot?" asked my mom as I was walking out of my room to eat breakfast. My foot was still wrapped in a bandage and it hurt more than it did yesterday. "I fell over a shampoo bottle." I shrugged. My mom laughed while I mixed a bag of corn flakes with milk.

I stared at her, "Heeey I didn't plan this." My mom just nodded and sat on the couch. "I want you to turn your phone on. I tried to call you yesterday during lockdown." shouted mom to me in the kitchen. My brother ran into the kitchen. "Good morning Noah." said mom but the little idiot wouldn't answer. "Noah pull yourself together and answer when someone talks to you." I said to him with a mouth full of cornflakes and went into my room. Noah just rolled his eyes. I finished my breakfast and packed up my stuff for school.

I am nervous as fuck. Today I'll be at a game as a cheerleader for the first time in a while. I left the house and for the first time I realized that I had to do the whole choreography with my sprained foot. Shit.

On the way to school, I met Jamal and Ruben. They talked and I just followed them quietly. Jamal had accidentally told his parents that he was going to play a football game today. The only problem was that he hasn't been on the team for a long time.

He asked Ruby to persuade the coach to at least sit Jamal on the bench. After some more talking, Ruby walked away with his very creepy laugh.

Jamal turned to me, "I'll play today. Ruby will convince the coach." I smiled at him, "Cool, I guess I'll see you on the field then. I'm cheerleader again, you know." Jamal's face blushed, "Yeahhh, see you there." Then he ran after Ruby. I laughed and shook my head.

During the lunch break, I looked for a table outside. I saw the table where Cesar and the others were sitting. I went to them and Monse said, "Cesar can't keep his hands off other people's pie." At that very moment I turned around and looked for another table. Bitch what kind of tense mood is this here? Monse seems to be pretty pissed off about the Cesar-Olivia-kissing-story.

"Ey yo niña mala!" someone called. I don't like this street name that much. That sounds more like a porn name. I turned to the voice. It was a Santo, I think his name was Gabriel.

He was sitting at a table with a couple of other younger Santos. I went to the table and sat down. The other Santos looked at me. "Buenos días." I said and ate my vegetables. The Santos nodded a hello back. The mood suddenly changed completely here. Probably since there was a girl at the Santos table.

Gabriel cleared his throat, "Uhm, why are you called that. Shouldn't you be called saint or something." Gabriel got the point. I'm not a badass bitch. Shit I blame myself if I kill a fly. And the fact that I was wearing a white dress today only reinforced his statement. "Yeah, I don't know why Sad eyes chose this name." I smiled.

The others looked at me as I continued to eat. I can't blame them, I rarely laugh or smile. "Una linda sonrisa." (A cute smile.) whispered a Santo with the name Leon to another Santo. Then the other hit Leon on the back of the head and said, "Watch out, otherwise Spooky will kill you for it, cabrón." I continued to have lunch and the Santos continued to talk normally after the shock of my presence wore off.
