If the Lasharis knew how to do one thing flawlessly, it was grand parties. They included just about everything you'd expect from a drama soap.

Saturday night, only two days away, was the first event, the soon-to-be frayed tip of a following string of events. After all, it was the first Lashari wedding in the household after decades, and the family was notorious for their lavish displays of wealth during their parties. They knew no bounds when it came to their children's events, especially their eldest granddaughter -who was soon to be married to a businessman and heir from a successful political family, much like theirs.

The household buzzed with excitement for the night -two days from now, a night of opportunities, for meeting people -new and old. For hearts to tremor, gazes to lock, secrets to unveil. A night for stolen glances, paining hearts, peals of laughter, concealed tears, gossiping chatter and quiet exchanges. Pleasure and pain, side by side.

Incessant ringing and buzzing interrupted the thick silence of the room, Ghasaan distractedly swiped the glowing green circle on his phone screen, pressing it to his ear,

"Hello?"

"Ghasaan Lashari, pehchana mujhe?" A male voice on the other end resonated

(recognise me?)

Confused, Ghasaan placed the cigarette into a crystal ashtray, his face unconsciously scrunched into curious confusion,

"Nahi, who is this?"

(No)

"Ahmed Shah, your classmate from 10 years ago, yaad aya kuch ya bhool Gaya mujhe?"

(Did you remember, or have you forgotten me?)

Forgotten memories now bombarded his conscious, as nostalgia slipped into his being, he chuckled in remembrance,

"Ahmed, it's been a while, Kaisay ho?"

(How are you?)

"Naraz hoon Tum se, aik baar Bhi peechay mur kar doston se baat nahi ki tu nay," the voice on the other end declared

(I'm angry with you, you didn't look back to speak to your friends even once)

A tinge of regret, a fraction of sadness,

a bittersweet smile left Ghasaan's lips yet again, he didn't know what to say this time,

"Acha khair chor, itni mushkil se number mila hay tumhara, how are you doing my friend?"
