Project Luna

Chapter 2

Luna sat down on a metal table, some wires attached to her body. But she was conscious and curious about the new organisms in front of her.

"So, robot, are you a friend of Master Eggman's?" she asked them. "N-Not necessarily! We're more of the... servants at his side.  But we're supposed to assist you while you are in our service. We're just collecting basic data for our Dr. Eggman!" Orbot explained to her and soon took off the many wires she wore.

"You've got a nice wardrobe!" Cubot told her pointing out the boots and other items she was wearing. "I always admired the leather jacket the most. The shirt underneath helps me to breathe a little bit more. The shoes have metal taps, I can turn them into dangerous weapons with a click of the heel." she explained, then gently tapped her against her leg and a knife came out a hiding spot in her shoe. "Woah! You've got weapons right at your fingertips!" Cubot exclaimed.

Luna smirked and then made the knife disappear at her shoe. "I can teleport as well," she said, disappearing from their view. Then she popped up behind them. "Boo!" she shouted.

Both robots fell forward and tried to collect themselves. "Ha! I'm sorry! I can't help it! It's just a classic!" she replied. As Orbot rubbed the back of his head and realized that she was hovering off the ground. "You can- hover." he said stunned.

"Yep! I've always been able to. Just a bit of brainpower!" she replied. "So you don't have rocket shoes like Shadow?" Cubot asked. 

Immediately, Orbot tried to make to silence him but covered his mouth too late.

"Shadow? Who's Shadow?" she asked, the tone of her voice changing. "W-Well you see, S-Shadow is a-another being from some other place and-" "He's a replica of you."

Luna turned around to see Dr. Eggman looked at her with serious eyes, Luna relaxed and faced him. "I want to know what's going on. I've stayed in that tube for too long! Who is Shadow?" she demanded. He led them all to the main room and started up a hologram before them. "I introduce to you to one of the targets you will be going after in your mission. His name is Shadow the Hedgehog. He's considered the Ultimate Life Form, created by my grandfather, Gerald Robotnik. He's not exactly easy to extract. So you'll have to work fast." Dr. Eggman explained.

The confident Luna soon disappeared and became somewhat upset. Her purple tips began to spread across her white quills and fur. "W-What's going on with her?" Cubot asked. Even Eggman was shocked and barely backed away. "Um, Luna?" he asked her timidly.

After feeling his hand on her shoulder, Luna calmed down and returned to her beautiful pearl white form. The purple tips were now very faint. "I apologize. It's just that..." she began.

"What's wrong?" he asked. Furiously, Luna stomped on the projector, using the knife in her shoe.

Everyone backed up in horror.

"All those years and he actually replaced me. I didn't think he would... but they never thought to let me out again..." she sighed.

Eggman was so startled that he didn't know what to do. "I'm not sure I quite understand. You were created by my grandfather? Did you know this hedgehog at one point?" he asked her. Luna quickly shook her head. "No, I never met him. I don't even know if he knows about me. But when I was created, I was put back into the stupid tube because they realized I was not what they needed. So they stuck a needle in my neck and locked me up. I only found about it before I was locked up. They were already making him after they made me... some father he turned out to be..." she explained, stepping away.

"Any reason why he'd lock you away?" Orbot asked. Luna sighed and motioned to her hands. "Because I'm too powerful... they put me to sleep so I couldn't use the energy... but now that I'm awake..." she realized. Suddenly, a blast of light went through the room. It bounced off the walls and broke anything around it. Most of them had to take cover but Luna wasn't too afraid. The blasts stopped and she wiped away a tear.

"It's those stupid powers that put me in that awful test tube." she replied at last. Dr. Eggman figured it was safe so he approached her again and realized that she had the same problem as Shadow. "You have no control over your chaos control." he realized.

When making the discovery, he led all of them to the nearest lab and he typed a few things into his machines before a machine made a ding and motioned for the doctor to come over.

Carefully, he took four inhibitor rings and handed them over to Luna. "Here you are, special rings that'll limit the amount of power you use. You can always take them off. But I would only take them off when it's an emergency." he explained. Luna took a look at them and looked to the Doctor. "Is that the only color they come in?" she asked.

Eggman grumbled and inserted them inside another machine where they were painted to a different color.

The machine notified him it was done and he took them out.

"Will these work?" he asked her annoyed, then returned the rings. She took one look and saw that they were a pretty shade of teal. "Yes, that works." Luna attached them around her wrist and loved how they felt.

"Now that you're set, are you ready for your mission?" Eggman asked.

Luna nodded her head and gently dipped her head. "Of course Doctor. What's my first task?" she asked. He signaled for her to follow him into another room. He typed into another laptop to project images from another machine. "Besides your clone of a brother, there are other nuisances in this world," he explained and images of the Sonic gang were projected. "This first one, Sonic the Hedgehog, is considered the fastest thing alive. He's annoyingly cunning. You'll have to be quick on your feet if you want to catch him. Along with the others here. It's going to take forever to explain how each one is a threat." he grumbled.

Being distracted, he was caught off guard when Luna suddenly pushed her index and middle fingers onto his forehead. Her eyes glowed for a minute before she shook herself out.

"Thank you, Dr. Eggman, I now understand the issues of each one of your opponents. All I needed to know was what they looked like. Is capturing them and bringing them all here my only task? Seems too easy if you ask me." she asked him.

"For now, it is. Until I figure out what else you can do, I need to make sure those pests are out of the way!" he replied. "So go! You have a mission to complete!" he snapped. "But of course, master. I will not fail you." she replied, before zapping out of his view. "This better work. Or else I'm not sure what I'm going to do." Dr. Eggman grumbled. He marched out of his lab and into another room, away from his robots.

That's when Orbot and Cubot decided they would do their own investigating.
