The next day, Tommy had gone to the Garrison. Liv wasn't working that day and instead had gone to Bethany's to ask if she could watch the smaller blonde the next day.
"Your sister was here. She was worried." Grace announced her presence once Tommy had entered the private room. She was more than anxious to find out more details but since Liv had collected the hysterical girl rather quickly she couldn't find out alot of details. Instead she had to wait till Tommy showed to find an explanation. "You and Freddie. It made her sick. She's all right, but in her condition, she needs peace. Women talk."
"That is something they do." Tommy stated as he had known this story already from his wife the night before.
"She talked about you. She said you keep everything locked up." Grace pried some more.
"Well, that's what men do." He simply added not furthering the discussion.
"Your sister's nice. I like her. I can't be easy for her. Her brother and her husband fighting over the same thing." The woman tried to reason. "Men should talk, too"
Her statement catching his attention as he looked up. Who was she to try and enter a family dispute?
"To you?"
"Why not? I'm a barmaid. It's my job." Grace stated hoping her position might actually get him to open up. She had witnessed many men tell their secrets and stories when they had one to many. But the Peaky Blinders had yet to reveal any information that would prove use to her. Which left her with trying to find other means of finding out anything. "Men always tell their troubles to a barmaid. What is it you and Freddie are fighting over?"
Tommy didn't answer but instead sat there for a moment. He wasn't about to discuss business with a mere barmaid and if there was anyone he could talk his problems over that would understand, it would be his wife. So instead of replying, he picked up a newspaper and inquired about tomorrow.
"I'll meet you here at nine o'clock tomorrow morning. Did you buy a dress?" He diverted the conversation.
"Yes, I bought a dress." She replied not commenting anymore about their previous topic.
"How does it look." Tommy asked wondering if she followed his color choice.
A small smile graced the blonde's mouth at the question. Her hope was that she was actually getting close to him. She hadn't consider what might happen the following day.
The next morning, as soon as the sun was peering over the buildings two households were getting ready. Hot water was poured in basins, make up was spread out on a desk with a mirror close by, hair was pinned in place, before finally the fabric of clothes were on. Liv was placing her finishing her earrings when Tommy instructed her to be downstairs in ten minutes.
Liv had just stepped outside when the car pulled to a stop in front of her. Tommy sending his wife a small smile as he looked over her appearance. Their next stop was the Garrison, Grace stood outside the doors in a red dress. Her small smile dropping when she noticed the blonde sitting next to Tommy in the front seat. She couldn't resist making a dig at their rocky marriage.
