Minnie strode into her office and snapped the door shut behind Harry.

"What were you thinking?" She asked calmly

Harry blinked at her. He didn't know what he was thinking. Was he thinking at all? All he knew was a classmate was in danger and he had to save her. He couldn't just leave her there.

"Well?" She prompted.

"I-I don't know." Harry replied

"What have I always told you?" She scolded "Use your head. Always. Recklessness and thoughtlessness gets people killed. You don't always have to play the hero either."

"I wasn't trying to." Harry defended

"Then what were you doing?"

"All I know is a friend was in danger!" He said, getting angry. "I couldn't just leave her there!"

"You broke school rules. Disobeyed your prefect and the headmaster and now you're yelling."

"I'd break them again! I'd gladly do it again. If it means no one dies I'll break a dozen school rules!"

Minerva tilted her head up slightly, her gaze softening.

"Is that what this anger is about? You think she would've died?" She asked

"I know she would've. I like her. I don't want her to die too."

"Harry." She said softly, offering him a tin of biscuits. "No one is going to die. Hogwarts is perfectly safe. You know that. Now, finish your biscuit then off to bed."

Harry obeyed, walking slowly back to the Gryffindor common room.

"Harry!" Ron and Hermione exclaimed as he entered the room

Harry jumped. The rest of the students had already gone to bed. Why were these two still up? Did they wait on him?

"Are you okay? Was Mcgonnagal really harsh?" Ron asked

"She didn't give you detention did she?" Hermione asked

"What? No. Minnie just wanted to talk."

"Minnie?!" They exclaimed
