I sat there listening to your future
Admiring how passionate you are
But in the process I felt my heart hurting
Hurting like never before
Hearing the word "husband" stabbed me in the heart
Though I've heard it many times before
In that moment it hurt just as much
Because it reminded me of the chance I never had
So now I sit here with a throbbing heart
Knowing you'll never love me back
But I can't get that through my thick skull
This delusion just keep running around my mind
Thinking you'd replace the word "husband" for me
If only my heart would stop saying what if
What if you end up with me
What if one day I get to hear you talking about your future
And you replace a man with me
