Five years passed by much quicker than Clarke thought it would. Just yesterday it seemed like Primfaya had came and her friends left for space. Just days ago she found a little bundle of life fighting to survive in a a world all alone. And now Madi wasn't a little baby anymore. She's grown so much and learner more then Clarke could've imagined. Even with being too old to be carried around properly, she still demanded cuddle time. Something Clarke now thinks she may never grow out of.

Such as now.

Madi was sitting on Clarke's lap, her small arms slung over Clarke's neck as she cuddled into her mother, snoring lightly as Clarke sat on the hood of the Rover with the radio in hand. Five years of waiting for her friends to call back or better yet, return to Earth. Today was the day they were meant to come back, but as day turned to night no call or sight of a ship ever came.

Clarke did the best she could to not be as broken as she felt. Five years was a long time to wait. But she had to remember the fuel problem they had during Becca's lab. Maybe five years wasn't enough to solve the problem and they needed more time to land safely. Yes that's it. It had to be.

Madi wiggles in Clarke's arms to get more comfortable, a little drool pooling on her shoulder. Clarke chuckles lightly, her darker thoughts pushed aside as they focus on the child in her arms. Madi is her focus right now. If-when- her friends come down, they'll be fine. Clarke had to believe that...

So when another year passed she tried to play it down. A whole six years without a word or sign. Clarke never said it aloud but she feared maybe the satellite didn't get the signal up and running in time. That she was too late.

Madi was fast asleep in the back of the rover as Clarke sat on a patch of grass near by, her radios set up once again pointing up to the sky. They had to at least hear her, right? They should have been back by now... With a sigh she turns it on and presses the button on the side. Here we go again...

"Bellamy, if you can hear me, if you're alive. Its been 2,199 days since primfaya. I don't know why I still do this everyday... maybe its my way of staying sane. I still have hope you guys are coming down, but lately it seems that day may never come. I've tried to be optimistic for Madi's sake but... even she's starting to wonder if you're coming. Just the other day she asked if you were even real."

She listens to the static on the other end and sighs.

"I know you're out there, Bell. And I know there were complications with the rocket but... just please. Please come back to me." Clarke sniffles and tries to blink away the rising tears. With a shake of her head she starts packing away the radio, before a burst erupts from the sky. Clarke looks up and a grin blossoms on her lips. "Never mind. I see you!"

She rushes to the back of the rover to wake the sleeping child. Madi grumbles and kicks lightly, making her mother laugh. Only when another, louder, clap follows through does the little one sit up.

"You ready to meet the others?" With a twinkle in her eyes Madi rushes out of the rover and to the edge of the cliff for a better view of the ship. She smiles brightly before turning to her mother, a curious yet happy expression on her face.

"Nomi? I thought you said the ship was small? It looks so big!" With a frown Clarke comes around the rover to face the sky. The ship was far too large to be the rocket her friends left in. Quickly she grabs her rifle and uses the scope for a better look. And she was right. That was not her friends.

"Madi, get in the rover. Now! And get the guns."

"Guns? All of them?"

"All of them."

"But mommy... isn't that Bellamy and your friends?" Her baby blues shimmer with fear and Clarke kneels in front of her, one hand on her shoulder.

"No baby. As far as we are concerned these people are a threat. We need to stay hidden and safe okay?" The child nods. "Now get in the rover."

Madi rushes towards the vehicle to hide and wait as Clarke looks through her scope for a better look at the ship. The words clear as printed on the side of the ship- Eligius: Prison Transport. These were no allies or friends, but foes- a threat to the home Clarke had built for herself and her child. A war is coming, and nothing will happen to Madi. Clarke will make sure of it.
