I knew I'd be a victim to the fate of time.
That was no question,
Yet I didn't think it'd be up this soon
And I didn't think I'd find you.

Death is a fool that has taken me under its wing
That takes prideful youth and ages it to dust.
Though for some, their lives inevitably turn to tragedy as soon as the ticking of the clock starts its cycle
And even the most beautiful of souls
May be greeted by the kiss of death before their lives have even begun.

I have become a subject to such kiss,
And youth will turn to ash like summer turning to winter,
like burning embers amidst powdered snow.

In my young, dying life,
I am a lonely wanderer
And from the moment my life begun
I thought I'd die a solitary death

But now
as I take one
Of few numbered breaths
My teary Vision finds you in the clear
And I wonder,
"Is this what heaven looks like?"

Your lovely eyes turned to mine
And as if you could read my mind,
You smiled,
Looking like the sun
Making me feel more alive than I had ever been.

Maybe my life is like a Greek tragedy,
Bringing me the best of life's offerings in human form,
Just to rip it away
Reminding me
Of the ticking hourglass
In the hands of fate.
Is this how Orpheus felt when he lost Eurydice?
Or Achilles when he lost Patroclus?
feeding into rage and insanity,
Lost his soul entirely
Knowing that he could not live in a dull world without the color his Patroclus
had brought into it?

The world has cursed me so.
Yet all I could think
Was how the universe
Could bring me to you
On the day I'd be leaving it.

So please,
Before the hourglass runs out
And I am yet brought into a new life,
Hold me now
In this life
And let me look at you,
Knowing that I have not wasted any second of it
Because I had found you
And maybe,

We can find each other again.

Inspiration: They Both Die At The End by Adam Silvera (because I finished the book last night and thought it was fitting.)

My baby Kalopsia just reached 4K reads while writing this. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. <3
