"Why did you bring up your 1991 mission, why not any of the others Magdalene?" Dr. Raynor asks pulling me back from my memories.

I shrug my shoulders, "It just sticks out."

Dr. Raynor purses her lips. "No, it doesn't." She sighs and sets her notebook down. "You didn't play an active role in that mission, there was no omen. I'm sure you could tell me far more exciting stories than that, I've read your file."

"If you know them then why ask." I mutter.

"Because whether you like it or not we are here to talk about your past. So why that mission, take your time." Dr. Raynor picks up her notebook again.

I look at the ceiling, "Because it was Tony's parents. Tony means a lot to me, well he did, does? How does that work with death. Anyways, he and Steve, they both took me in taught me a lot after I got out of Hydra. And I talked to Tony about it, it caused a rift for a while but. I still. I still feel awful. I do for everyone we killed. I still played my part, we hurt Natasha too in 2011." I look back at Raynor but she is writing notes rather than looking at me.

Dr. Raynor looks up again, "So tell me about 2011."

————————————————————————

2011. It was 2011. One of the newer guards, Didn't take his job seriously. Instead of watching me he was reading a newspaper. And right on the front was the year. Lucky me. Not like it mattered anymore. Years pass, nothing changes. Maybe we get new weapons, maybe they run more experiments.

I stare at the new guard from my position on the floor. And he notices, "Don't you do anything aside from sit there in front of the chamber all day?"

"No. You guard me and I guard him." I nod my head back at my soldier, in deep sleep in his chamber.

"Pretty boring then, when they aren't sending you two off to do the grunt work that is." The guard is a lot younger than most of the ones here, although all the better trained ones are with the newer recruits. More tests all failures. Just poor attempts to copy what Zola did with Soldier and I.

The guard speaks up again. "So why do they call you Throne? You've got wings but I don't see a crown."

I just look up at him and shrug. I don't care to walk through Zola's theology.

Karpov walks in with his usual posse of guards and scientists. "Unfreeze the soldier, we have a mission for you. An engineer is being escorted out of Iran. We want him dead. You leave as soon as you're able. And do the omen."

Karpov just walks out as scientists go to unfreeze soldier. Apparently we aren't important enough to warrant a full debriefing from Jim's I watch as they work waiting for our plane ride.

The ride is the same as always, piecing back together what I can of Soldiers mind. Stealing what moments we can.

Camping outside Odessa however that's a different story. It is just us two but we both know Hydra is watching. When we see the jeep in the distance soldier nods at me, giving me my cue to take action. I fly down, flaming sword in hand before throwing down a small smoke bomb that lets me disappear. A silent omen of death. As I "disappear" soldier shoots the tires out on the car sending it careening off the side of a cliff.

We walk over to check to make sure everyone is dead but a red haired woman had pulled our target out and was covering him with her body.

Soldier turns to me "Release." Is all he says before shoving his hand into my chest to pull out a gun and shoots through the girl. She screams in pain but reaches for her own pistol before firing. Soldier is already walking away so I use my wing to block the bullet. I manage to see her shocked face before turning away too. The target is dead, it doesn't matter what she says she saw if she lives, the slug soldier used was untraceable.

Another mission, another day.
