Part 28

She was a Monteverde.

But not only that, she was from the immediate bloodline.

I'm sure I've mentioned before how secretive the Monteverde's are and how not much is known about them but all direct blood family members who descend from the leader get the specific tattoo of a crown. Members and people who are apart of the distant family get a slightly different tattoo but of course the meaning and significance behind it being different.

If there were no known heirs for the Monteverde's then that meant she was a sister to the current leader not child otherwise she would be Queen.

"You don't think there working together do you" I muttered, the feeling of betrayal seeping into my body.

"Phoenix" Niks hand slightly brushed up and down against my hip, his intoxicating smell filling my senses, I could feel all his rings through the material of my shirt.

That was the first time he'a said my name in ages and it sounded heavenly coming from his mouth.

"If they are" his body leaned foreword in the seat so close our faces were almost touching "betraying us that is, we will get revenge darling don't worry"

A mischievous and cheeky smirk popped up on his face "after all that's something we're both extremely good at"

And then, seconds later, gun fire set off.

At my funeral really? Have some shame

"Don't go out there" both his hands were now on my hip as I was about to jump out of the car. We were in an extremely intimate position.

"I said yesterday if things go left I am interfering, so I will" I pushed the car door open and jumped out, a simple loaded hand gun tucked into the back of my skirts waistband.

I began walking into the funeral area where everything was happening before a hand tugged me back

"You really think I'd let you go alone" he scoffed, holding the same gun as me loosely in his left hand, the both of us taking strong and powerful strands into the literal war zone

"What's the plan" he bent his head a bit to whisper in my ear over the all noise considering everyone was to busy to notice us, literally the fact that i was alive at my own funeral caught no ones attention.

"This way" I muttered leading him to the stand with the microphone as he caught onto my plan

Coming to a stand at the front I picked up the microphone

"Well isn't this a surprise" my loud, clear and sarcastic voice reduced the fighting in the room.

Slowly and slowly people stopped shooting and looked at me, shock filling there face and gasps being heard all around.

Nik stood just behind me letting me lead as his hand rested on the small of my back comfortably in support.

"I mean if you were going to have a gun fight couldn't you have waited until after my funeral" I sarcastically spoke as everyone was in to much shock to comprehend what was going on

All except Leonardo, Kaiden Silas and Alistair who guessed my death was fake.

"Phoenix" Astraea and Aries breathed running up to the stand and embracing me into a hug, causing me to stiffen.

They didn't even bring Doja with them.

"Lovely to see you guys again, see you've had a field trip" I pulled away feeling awkward as slowly by slowly my siblings came and hugged me Leonardo whispering about how I was smart enough to cheat death and he knew that.
