Arthur wiped his forehead, sighing in exhaustion as he finished fixing the van up. Sitting up from lying under the car, he stood up slowly, walking toward the drivers seat. Vivi slept in the back, while Y/N and Mystery were no where in sight. Sighing once again, Arthur sat down. Glancing over, he only just noticed Y/N slowly patting Mystery. Arthur jumped back. "Y-Y/N! W-what are you doing awake?!" He whisper-yelled, calming down his beating heart at the small jump scare. Y/N chuckled slightly. "Heh, sorry! I woke up from Mystery whining. He seems upset about something..." Y/N replied, stroking Mystery. Arthur looked down at the dog. Mystery did indeed seem distressed about something. Holding his metal arm tightly, Arthur let out a small sigh, before reaching out his hand slowly.
Hesitating a tiny bit, Arthur, pet the dogs head. Mystery glanced up at him, surprised, before leaning into the affection. Arthur smiled to himself.
"I don't think I've ever seen you pat Mystery before." Y/N pondered. Arthur started up the engine. "It's a long story." He replied, as he began the long trip ahead of them.
A couple of hours later, Mystery was fast asleep on Y/N's lap. Arthur yawned in the drivers seat, Y/N noticing. "Do you want me to drive?" The young girl asked, to which Arthur shook his head. "N-no no...I'm f-fine." He replied, before letting out another yawn. Y/N shook her head. "Dude, if we have an accident, I'm putting full blame on you, capeesh?" Arthur chuckled.
Quietly listening to the radio, a small sizzling started to sound out. Arthur's attention, still half on the road, turned to the radio. Purple sparks surrounded the engine area, the van once again coming to a stop. Arthur sighed angrily. "Again? I just fixed it! What is up with this thing?!"
Y/N's attention fixed onto the mirror. She swore she saw something flicker in the reflection behind Arthur. Turning around, she looked out the back window, Arthur soon joining her. In the distance, a pair of large purple headlights were gaining on them. Arthur let out a gasp of fear, trying to start the engine. "Come on...come on!" He mumbled fearfully, as Y/N watched the truck coming upon them quickly. The purple aura reminded her of the haunted mansions, just the previous night. "Hurry Arthur! It's gaining!"
In a final attempt to get it started, Arthur hit the engine with his fist as hard as he could with his metal arm. His metal armed malfunctioned, shocking him.
He blacked out for a split second.
Y/N shook his arm, trembling. "A-arthur?! Are you ok?!" She yelled. Arthur slowly woke up, holding his prosthetic arm in pain. Mystery awoke from Y/N's screaming, looking around as he tried to get his bearings. Arthur whimpered slightly, wincing as the pain continued to throb, even shaking his arm to get it working again, before he remembered their current situation.
Arthur quickly turned around, as Y/N realised that the truck that was gaining on them had suddenly gone quiet. It towered over the small van, its headlights turned off. The two friend's eyes filled with fear as the driver came into view. A skeleton ghost with piercing purple eyes.
Y/N held onto Mystery tightly as Arthur slammed his foot on the break, the van speeding off, as the truck followed.
Vivi, who'd been asleep, awoke from all the commotion. But before she could react, a large bat that the gang often kept landed on her head, knocking the blue-haired girl unconscious.
Y/N hugged Mystery. "WHAT THE HELL!? WHAT IS HE DOING HERE?!" She screamed, as Arthur drove into a tunnel, hoping to lose the truck. "I DON'T KNOW! WHAT MAKES YOU THINK I KNOW?!" He screamed back.
As they reached the end of the tunnel, Arthur chuckled hopefully, thinking he'd lost the ghost. But it was way too soon, as the ghost truck reappeared right behind the van.
Y/N looked in the rear view mirror at the truck chasing them. "What does it want?!"
Mystery, now fully awake, was whimpering slightly. Y/N hugged him tight. "Shh it's ok, everything's fine! We're just...being chased by a ghost truck?" She smiled awkwardly, trying her best to reassure the dog. But alas, consoling wasn't Y/N's best trait.
All of a sudden, Arthur yelped, as he hit something that was standing on the road. Y/N and Mystery whipped their heads around to face the front, only to find a girl leaning on the windshield, a large grin on her face. Y/N got a sense of deja vu as the girl began breaking the window. Had she seen this girl before?
The glass shattered, as a large pair of clippers headed towards Mystery. Y/N moved him out of the way before it could hit him, yet it still managed to slice him across the cheek.
Y/N felt a sharp pain on her cheek, as if a paper cut had suddenly sliced her. Yet there was no mark. "What the-"Lewis opened his golden locket, taking one last look at the blue-haired girl in the portrait. His eyes fixated once again on the van in front of him.
Arthur was his main target, of course, but who was the new girl? Was she there to replace him? Probably. But he didn't care. The girl had tried protecting his enemy, so he knew she was an accomplice, and must be eliminated as well.
Building up a fire ball in his hand, he sent it after the van, popping the tires to slow it down.
The van bumped as the tire popped, sending the aggressive humanoid plant flying off the van, landing on the road behind them.
Arthur, Y/N and Mystery sighed in relief, but it was short-lived. The trio screamed as the van drove through a construction railing, sending them flying down the hill at full speed. Mystery clambered into the back, leaving Arthur and Y/N to hit the shop in their way.
Y/N groaned as she rubbed her head, glancing over to the drivers seat, only to find him missing. In a panic, she clambered from the passenger door, forgetting about Vivi and Mystery in the back. Arthur must've fallen out on impact.Running around the front, she noticed the truck chasing them parked not to far away. Her eyes widened as she saw the ghost holding Arthur, the back of the truck held wide open by the same purple ghosts she'd seen in the mansion.
Rushing forward, she watched in horror as the ghost threw Arthur into the back of the truck. Lurching herself forward, Y/N attempted to throw herself into the ghost. She realised her mistake as she phased through the large ghosts waist, falling through the darkness.
Hitting the ground, she rubbed her head as she sat up. She was inside a cave, with a carpet pathway and railings.
Y/N heard Arthur whimpering ahead of her. Stumbling to her feet, she ran in the direction of the sound, soon coming upon a fork. Taking the left side, she could see the ghost holding Arthur over a ledge, sharp rocks laying at the bottom.
She froze, paralysed. What do I do?!Everything slowed down, as if a movie were playing.
"W-what do you want?! What did I do?!" Arthur cried at the ghost. The ghost's glare hardened. "You really haven't figured it out yet?" He growled lowly, showing his true form. A young man with purple hair.
Arthur was shocked. "Lewis?..." the whispered questioningly, as the ghost dropped him.
Arthur fell, realisation hitting him like a truck. Y/N reached out, a silent scream caught in her throat.
