The Halloween Masked Dance, more like mid-November Masked Dance but same difference I guess, one of the few traditions they hold each season, where everyone, including the famous person — or people in this case — who is trying to find love, wears masks, and everyone has a good time, there's lots of candy, and we all get to dress up in fun costumes. I am going as Little Red Riding Hood, with a mask the same red as the cape, a dress with a white bodice and brown skirt and short brown heels. It looks kind of cute, and isn't anything like some of the slutty so-called "princess" dresses I've seen come in. I also put in a few "highlights", which just clip into my hair, the blonde contrasting against my dark brown hair. Just to make it harder to identify me.

Heading to the first floor, I see signs pointing to the gardens, and follow them, joining the growing pool of girls all squealing because the boys are singing one of their songs. Gag. Nasty. How do people listen to this stuff? I have to act like I like it though, to keep a cover. If I act like I enjoy their songs, they won't be able to tell who I am. Especially since I've made it clear I despise their music.

"One more from us, then we are joining you in the dance party. A request from anyone?" I hear a dozen or so requests for the same song, Happy Ever After — the song I rearranged completely to actually sound decent (and renamed) — but they play the cringy version, making me want to leave. I showed up, so that counts for something, right?

"When you said, 'We're over'

It felt like my life was over

My heart broken and shattered

Into a million parts

Is your life a happy ever after

Cause that's my happy ever after

Seeing you happy

I bet you're totally over me

With some famous guy

Pretty sure he don't know my name

But he's your whole world

Is your life a happy ever after

Cause that's my happy ever after

Seeing you happy

That final kiss

Although it was bliss

I'm gonna miss

That smile of a wish

Is your life a happy ever after

Cause that's my happy ever after

Seeing you happy" I mean, seriously, I can write better lyrics in my sleep. But I have to act like it's the best thing in the world and they are amazing singers. Definitely going to need to purge my ears after this with some decent music. Like Carrie Underwood, or Christina Aguilera. Or something that's not this. They let the band they hired for the night play, and my ears are relieved that it's not their songs. Thank you.

"Are you going to dance or just stand there the rest of the night?" I hear Hayden flirting with me, and after suppressing a laugh, I decide to join the rest of the girls, dancing on the special dance floor.

"I'm going to dance. Care to join?" He smiles, joining me and letting loose. Hayden actually looks genuinely happy for once. Maybe he forgot about his ex for once. A slow song starts, and I point to one of the other girls — well aware of who I'm picking — and he nods, asking Madilynn to dance. After a few more songs, they ask us if anyone wants to perform a song. Not doing that. I draw the line there.
