it was a cloudy morning, the chilly kind. the wind flew through the stone streets of mondstadt, thunder could be heard in the distant sky and the air smelled like it was going to rain any second now.

you were sat at a small circular wooden table on your balcony, legs crossed over one another as you felt another chill go down your back.

you loved days like these, knowing there wouldn't be many people out because of the weather. it was relaxing to you; melancholy, in a way.

everything seemed greyer then the usual, although not in a depressing way. moreover, you enjoyed every second you got when you were alone as you learned how to get along with yourself.

the gloomy atmosphere contrasted from the usual mondstadt-special sunny weather. soon enough, a few drops fell from the sky.

today was the day you'd be attending the celebratory gala for your promotion, you hoped it wasn't going to be pouring when returning home from it.

you glanced over to the black dress that layed sprawled over your bed and you smiled, feeling optimistic about a get together for once. a sinking feeling appeared in your bones when you realized you would probably be seeing diluc tonight.

did he still hate me? did he ever even hate me? you thought, do i hate him?

the day went on normally as you finished just a few commissions that were all centered inside the city which you were honestly grateful for, it didn't expect you to go anywhere far because of the rain.

the party was being held in a large ballroom, the ceilings high with three chandeliers in total. the floor was made of marble and the walls were beautifully detailed and designed in shades of white. it was still raining outside, it didn't stop the entire day, it looked like it wasn't going to stop. but "the show must go on" as kaeya would say.

speaking of the devil, kaeya was stood chatting with you, a glass of the infamous dandelion wine in his hands. you kept on looking around as if you were searching for somebody - which you were, you were looking for a familiar red haired man - and kaeya noticed.

–"looking for someone?" he asked, taking a sip from his drink as you played with yours.

–"what?" you asked, taken a back, "oh- right, i'm looking for amber" you lied as you continued to look around the enormous ballroom that was full of people either dancing or laughing with each other.

kaeya looked at you with a raised eyebrow as he chuckled into his glass, making it fog up from his breath. he smiled in thought about how you were obviously lying. he always looked like he knew something you didn't and it annoyed you at times.

he's the type of person to always have a trick or two up his sleeve, he's the type of person to likely be the mastermind who's genius plan was only revealed in the end - in a good way.

amber soon enough appeared out of nowhere with a pissed off look. she huffed out, obviously irritated.

–"what's wrong? where have you been?" you interrogated the woman.

–"i was stopped by a knight because he couldn't recognize me!" she exclaimed, crossing her arms.

–"well you do look different" kaeya said, fueling the fire, looking her up and down. you suppressed your laugh by biting the inside of your bottom lip.

–"hey!" she warned the blue haired man, stealing the drink from his hand and leaving with a satisfied smile on her face.

amber had on a red dress with a sweetheart neckline that reached just above her knees and her hair was in a bun that you helped make. everytime she tried pulling the side bangs behind her ear, they would just fall back in front of her face.
