EVIE HAD SETTLED in quite nicely, returning to the Gilmore home and being given her old room back. Which wasn't exactly a room, but a small garage or shed-like structure in the backyard. It was built by Luke - and with that you knew it was stable - during some of Evie's earlier visits, when it became clear that Evie and Rory were becoming too old to sleep in the same room. It wasn't big, and could just about fit a bed, wardrobe and a desk in there. Shelves were covered in books and old childish decorations littered the empty space. The day after her arrival was spent by her cleaning it up whilst Lorelai was at the inn and Rory was at school.
