The soft patter of rain echoed in the night air as it hit the plastic of the blue umbrella. Y/n lead a dazed Akaashi down the path to their neighbourhood. Neither of them spoke a word as they walked so y/n was grateful for the sounds of the rain filling the silence.

Akaashi had stopped crying a while ago, and now he was so lost in his thoughts that y/n wasn't sure if she should speak to him or not. Truthfully, she didn't want to.

How could she? It was hard enough as is, pushing aside her own feelings to help him with his own. She was already treading the thin line of their faltering relationship, she wasn't sure how much stress it could take. It was one thing to comfort your crush, it was another thing completely to comfort him after another girl broke his heart.

Considering he should still be on his date, y/n had no doubt that this was Jenny's doing. She didn't know what that conniving girl did and quite frankly she didn't want to. Yet she found herself asking anyway.

"Are you okay?" she asked. She might've not have cared about his relationship with Jenny, but she could never stop caring about him.

"No," he responded truthfully as they walked underneath a streetlight. As the artificial glow lit up the area, his eyes absentmindedly wavered over to y/n. "You look nice," he remarked

He was briefly confused when she stiffened at his compliment but said thank you nonetheless. "I thought you had plans tonight. How'd you end up with Konoha?"
