Fred, George, and Mila stood outside the Malfoy Manor, right beside the gate.

"Are we just going to stand out here?" Mila plopped onto the ground, beside Fred.

"We need a plan." George paced up and down the small road. "We can't just walk into a house full of deatheaters."

"I say we just sneak in there, grab Katerina, and be on our way." Fred stood up.

"There's no way we'll make it out alive." George exhaled deeply. "Just let me think for a bit."

Fred rolled his eyes, ignoring his brothers words.

Fred walked up to the entrance, looking up at the tall thin bars, keeping them out.

Fred wrapped his hand around a bar.

Suddenly, a gush of wind blew through the bars sending Fred through the air.

George and Mila ran to aid Fred.

"Are you alright?" Mila and George kneeled down, helping Fred.

"I'm okay." Fred exhaled deeply.

"What are you doing here?" A voice was heard from behind them.

They all stood up quickly, prepared to defend themselves.

Katerina stood tall in front of the gate, staring at the trio.

"Katerina." George said softly.

Katerina's expression was unreadable, showing no interest or emotion.

"What are you doing here?" Katerina repeated herself.

"We're here to bring you home." Fred stepped up.

Katerina clenched her jaw as she looked at Fred.

"You aren't welcomed here." Katerina said with strength.

"Kathy?" Fred's voice rang with confusion. "Why are you acting like this?"

Katerina used all her strength to hide her emotions.

She did not say a word.

Fred's eyes softened as Katerina looked away from him.

Katerina looked at Mila.

"Leave now." Katerina muttered coldly.

"We're not leaving without you." George clenched his fist.

Katerina raised her hands creating a ball of energy with her magic effortlessly. Katerina blinked causing her eyes to beam a bright fiery purple.

Their eyes widened at the sight of Katerina.

"I will not repeat myself." Katerina played with the energy, warning them.

"George, Fred... let's go." Mila whispered in fear.

"We're not leaving." Fred raised his voice.

Katerina knew that they had to leave before the Malfoy's noticed her absence.

"It isn't safe here." Katerina mumbled.

George looked at Katerina, she was acting different than the night before.

She hid her emotion well but George knew it was an act.

"Please... come home." George said softly.

Katerina's cold eyes glistened as George's words travelled through her.

Her heart began to beat faster, causing the blood to rush to her cheeks.

The magic began to fade from Katerina's hands.

Katerina inhaled deeply.

"I can't." Katerina mumbled sadly, "You'll die."

George's eyes widened.

For a split second, Katerina's walls were torn down.

Katerina quickly tried rebuilding them.

"I don't care." George walked closer to Katerina.

Katerina blinked, she extended her arms chanting.

George held up his hands protecting himself.

Fred stepped forward trying to grab George.

Fred and Mila felt a gush of wind, closing their eyes and when they opened them, they stood back in the apartment.

George opened his eyes, looking at Katerina.

Katerina looked at her hands, wondering why George didn't get sent back with the others.

"Katerina..." George walked closer.

"George stop." Katerina stepped backwards.

"I will not stop until you're home." George's eyes softened as he grabbed Katerina's hands.
"Come home." George looked into Katerina's eyes.

Katerina's eyes softened.

George squeezed Katerina's freezing hands.

Her hands slowly began to warm up as George's hands held hers.

"I have nothing to come back to." Katerina pulled her hands away. "I don't have a home anymore, George." She added.

"Do you truly believe that?" George asked in disbelief.

Katerina bit her lip.

"I can't go back." Katerina shook her head. "He'll make sure you all suffer if I disobey him." Katerina warned George, "You have to go."

"Not without you." George shook his head.

Katerina clenched her jaw in frustration.

"I'm trying to save you!" Katerina raised her voice,

"I don't need to be saved!" George yelled back.

"George!" Katerina yelled, "I'm not going to let you die!"

"Why not?" George hissed.

"Because.." Katerina barked.

"Why!?" George shouted.

"Because I love you!" Katerina stepped closer to George, confessing to him.

George eyes widened as Katerina's eyes softened.

They stood so close to each other that with one more step, their aching bodies would finally touch.

"You still love me?" George mumbled softly. Katerina's eyes widened as she realized what she had said.

"No." Katerina took a step back.

"Kathy..." George sighed as Katerina held herself. "Please."

Katerina bit her tongue, frowning.

"I'm sorry George." Katerina exhaled deeply, shutting her eyes.

"Katerina, no!" George stepped forward trying to grab her but she quickly disappeared in thin air, leaving George alone in the fog.

George fell to his knees, staring at the pavement.

George's eyes softened, quickly filling with water.

George cried softly, looking up at the manor.

Katerina watched from a far, hearing his soft cries.

She hid behind a statue, hearing his whimpers as he cried out for her.

A single tear dropped streamed down Katerina's cheek slowly as she bit her lip.

She did what she had to do.

But at what cost?
