My Room Freshener Enlightened Me

I felt indolent that one fine day,
But now that I realize it, it is the same every day.
But something happened that left an indelible impression on me,
That made me write it on paper to let the world see.

Who knew that a mere push of the button of a spray
Would take all my worries away?
It's a beautiful fragrance that I cannot explain
It tickles my senses and lingers in my brain.

I wondered if humans were sprays
They would mesmerize me with every word they say.
There won't be any odor of ignorance or depression dancing in the air.
Just the fragrance of sweet, strong, and fresh words to bear.

But alas! All the sunshine turns the green field barren,
Everything that smells nice doesn't come from heaven.
Though it might smell pleasant and nice for a while,
It won't take time for it to turn into vile.

Everyone would be gasping for the air
Blaming themselves for the mistake they made.
Promising to throw away all the scents they wear,
And ask back for the life that was dull and frayed.

If allowed, they would ship all the ingredients to a faraway land
And realize that the ebullient side just made their life bland.
The one they truly loved once became the target of hate.
Melancholy is also a much-needed segment of life, but no one dares to state.

I shake my head at the thought of it,
And glance at the room freshener gleaming in its glory.
For it taught me the lesson,
"Excess of anything always ends up in a sad story."

Meaning/ What this poem is about:

We all wish for happiness to be abundant in our lives. But too much of happiness could make one's life bland and even suffocating to live (This really sounds equivalent to rich people complaining about having too much money that they don't know where to spend (≧▽≦) ). So, sadness is as important in life. Without sadness happiness would become the new normal and those special happy and proud moments won't be special anymore.

"Loosing something makes you realise the worth of what you had."
No one appreciates what they have and goes on wanting for more. That's humans for you. But when they satisfy their needs and it becomes too much for them, they would want to go back to the old times. But that's not how things work do they? So they end up being sadder than they were before!
