Hooriya's POV:

¨Agle mahine ka teesra din kesa rahe ga Baraat ke liye? (How does the 3rd of next month sound for the Baraat?)¨ Next month!? I passed a pleading look to my father, who was currently discussing the wedding dates with Usman Uncle and Khateeja Aunty.

¨Mujhe toh koi etraaz nahi hai Usman, magar Hooriya ne abhi CSS ke exams bhi dene hain, mere khayal se agar shaadi uske baad ho toh Hooriya bhi zara aaram aur sakoon se enjoy kar paye gi, (I don't have any objections Usman, but Hooriya has to give her CSS exams soon, so I think it's best to have the wedding afterwards so that Hooriya does not unnecessarily worry during the celebrations)¨ My father immediately reasoned out that for now my main focus was my CSS exams, and the wedding coming in between would seriously disturb my schedule as I wouldn't be able to properly do either one of them. I internally sent my father a grateful smile, he always knows my feelings inside out.

It's true that I want my main focus to be my exams though. As important as this marriage is to me, I won't let my future career be affected or hindered by it. Neither will I let my desire for a successful career cause a drift between I and Suleiman. It's weird how love can drastically change a person's priorities. It was just a few weeks ago that I was hell-bent on giving my CSS exams and joining the foreign office and couldn't even imagine thinking of anything different, but here I am now, with completely different dreams and aspirations for my future.

¨Are han, exams bhi toh hain phir Hooriya beti ke. I'm so sorry beta, bus dimaag se hi nikal gaya. Chalo phir exams kab hain aapke? (Oh yes, Hooriya has her exams as well. I'm so sorry, child, it just completely slipped my mind. So then when are your exams?)¨ I smiled warmly at Usman Uncle as he sent me an apologetic look.

¨Six months baad Uncle, (Six months later Uncle)¨ I replied.

¨Theek hai phir, Hooriya ke exams ke do mahine baad Baraat rakh lete hain phir, time bhi mil jaye ga hamay tayari karne ke liye aur Hooriya bhi hum sab ke saath bina tension enjoy kar paye gi. What say, Jalal? (Alright then, we can have the Baraat two months after Hooriya's exams, we'll get plenty of time to prepare and Hooriya will also be able to enjoy without any exam worries)¨ Everyone seemed completely satisfied with Usman Uncle's suggestion, but before Baba could give his approval, Suleiman spoke up.

¨Mere khayal se toh do hafte kafi honge, aur jahan tak baad tayari ki hai, toh wo toh inn 6 haftoon me hi complete ho jaye gi, (I think two weeks will be enough, and as far as the preparations are concerned, then six months should be more than enough for that)¨ I blushed deep red as everyone could easily detect the hint of impatience in his voice as he casually, but firmly, stated that we hold the Ruksati earlier.

Allah, this is so embarrassing!

¨That sounds pretty reasonable actually. Ab bhala naiki me der kis baat ki? Han, Usman? (Now why must we delay such a beautiful deed? What say, Usman?)¨ My father amusingly agreed with Suleiman taking note of his eagerness and looked towards Usman Uncle for his approval. After his approval was given and everyone had stood up to hug and congratulate each other, mama asked Mansha and I to go prepare the chai, and Madiha too tagged along.

¨Wese aapas ki baat hai, mene aaj tak Suleiman Bhai ko itna khush nahi dekha. Dekha tha kese smile unke chehre se utar hi nahi ri thi jab Jalal Uncle ne unki baat pe agree kiya tha, (Truth be told, I've never seen Suleiman bhai this happy till date. Did you see how the smile wasn't even leaving his face when Jalal Uncle agreed to his suggestion?)¨ I heard Madiha talk to Mansha from behind me and my already red face probably resembled a tomato by now.
