***Valentine****
"Zandra!" I shouted down the hall as I tried to hold up my dress. "Zandra get in here!"
"Yes, yes, I'm coming, I'm here! What's wrong?" She skidded into the room and I slammed the door behind her.
"The dress doesn't fit!" I screeched and took in a few deep breaths.
"You're stressing out too much! Let me have a go." She put her hands on my shoulders and turned me towards the full length mirror. She lifter my arm so she could get to the zipper of the long, white dress. She pulled the fabric in a few directions and pulled the zip up cleanly. "See? Nothing to worry about." She smiled at me in the mirror. She looked gorgeous in her light golden bridesmaid dress and her hair was perfection... unlike mine.
"My hair, Zandra! It' a complete mess!" I gasped and touched it. I must have messed it up when I was wrestling with my dress. Though it was absolutely lovely, full length, lace and formfitting enough to give the illusion that I had boobs, it was hell to get on over my head.
"Uhh..." Zandra stammered as she looked at it.
"I knew it! It's awful!" My breaths started coming out in pants and I think I should start breathing into a paper bag.
"No, no its not! But, um, I'll just go and get Cam, okay?" Zandra scuttled out of the room to look for my gay best friend. I just hoped he wasn't humping his boyfriend in the cupboard like he was earlier. Eww. Cam and Justin (aka Doctor Samuels) was a serious item now, one year after Cam wrestled his number off him when I was in hospital.
One year... it felt so short but it wasn't. So much had changed. After Zed and I hashed it out, we had grown steadily fonder and fonder of each other until the L word started playing a part. I formally resigned from the RAF and become a trainer for the pack along with being the female Beta. We'd moved in together five months ago and last month he proposed. Oh, god, he was so nervous. He was shaking if I remember correctly. I smile at the memory and pick at the delicate lace flower design on my dress.
I hadn't seen Zed for two days and it was slowly wearing me thin. I was already feeling antsy. Yesterday we had out bachelor and hen parties. Cam and Justin, though, crashed on ours because, and I quote, "Why would we want to sit and play darts with boring men when instead we could kidnap you and use your hen party to get good seats and a strip club?"
Yeah, you can't help but love them.
I think some of the male strippers were scarred, though.
The door banged open behind me. "Sweet, I heard that you were in need of a saviour!" Well, speak of the devil... Cam had managed to hide most of his tattoos but refused to take out his piercings. He looked dashing in his black suit with silver and gold accents, and by the way that his tie was crooked and his black hair was ruffled, Justin agreed that he looked irresistible. But, down to business.
No, not that business!
"Oh my God, Cam, my hair is a mess." I turned so he could see the back.
"What did you do to it, let a crow nest there?" He joked but I glared at him showing that I was not in the mood. "All right all right, keep your pants on! Well, if you even have pants on that is," he chuckled and my cheeks went red. I whacked his arm. "Ow! Damn, woman, why are your hands so bloody hard?!"
"Next time don't let your arm stray so near," I warned as he started pulling at my hair.
"Zandra, my love, can you get her veil?" Zandra picked it up and handed it over. Cam pinned it in and Zandra gave me my bouquet. Oh, God, it was time. Cam placed the veil on my face.
Zandra smiled at me. "You'll be fine." Then she disappeared out of the door.
Cam took my arm and started leading me down. Because my parents couldn't be here physically, I had made the decision that we would hold the wedding in my parent's house. It was huge and more than adequate. Though my dad was only an RAF commander, my mum was the most badass lawyer for supernaturals.
I heard 'Morning Has Broken' start playing and I took a shuddering breath. I thought that the wedding march was too overused, and you can use any hymn for your wedding, so I chose this one. It was my favourite. Cam squeezed my arm in reassurance. I could do this.
The patio doors opened to reveal myself to the crowd seated in chairs in the garden. They all turned to look at me but I was only interested in one person. He looked so damn hot in that suit.
He turned to look at me and I was nearly floored by that one look. He'd put in contacts today, showing his golden and silver eyes. It was his eyes that had invented the colour scheme. They were amazing. He was amazing. And he was all mine.
We walked up the centre aisle, our eyes never parting.
Cam stopped beside him and turned to me. He grinned and kissed me on the cheek, much to Zed's annoyance. I smiled at him and he turned to join Justin.
Zed stared at me. He never stopped. He stared into my very soul as he recited his vows:
"Valentine Phoenix Orson, you are my soul mate, my true mate and my best friend. From this day forward, I join my life with yours. Wherever you will go, I will go as well; whatever you face, I will face it with you, side by side as equals, as Husband and Wife. I promise you this." I had tears in my eyes. I'm not sure I could even get my own out.
"Zed Griffin, I promise from here on out I promise to be your navigator when you get lost, your consoler because I am your soul mate, your best friend and your wife. I also promise you myself so we may become one."
Oh, God, I was going to cry! The only thing that made it better was that I think Zed was as well. The Werewolf priest asked for the rings and Zed and I put them on each other.
Then Zed was ripping off my Veil and smashed his lips to mine. I melted in his arms, because what else was I to do?
"You may now kiss the bride!" The priest laughed and cheers filled the garden.
I was in the arms of my Mate.
At last.
