Chapter 32

Current time
(Plot convenience- it's night time now)
[Z'S POV]
Glancing at the clock I realise if I were to put my worries to rest nows a good time to do so. I go to the Ninjas resting room, expecting to find everyone asleep, and I find them all in bed, but Zane's sitting there, playing with a small insect he had found besides his bed, I assume.
"Zane, I have something I need to discuss with you." I say quietly, and he looks up, still slouched over the bug.
"Of course. What is it?" He inquires, just as softly.
"About me. And my friends." I say, and he sits up.
"I'm listening. Wait- here. Sit." He says, shuffling over.
"We- we're from the future. The time blades brought us back."
"Wait how? The blades were-"
"Destroyed? No. Merely sent through time. Shrinking like cotton (is it cotton? I suck at fabric identification) does in the dryer."
"So the time blades are.. smaller? I do not understand, wouldn't that decrease the power?" Zane asks.
"I can not give you a confident answer with that." I sigh.
"So. You're from the future. Why are you telling me this?" Zane asks.
"Do you have any water in here?" I ask.
"Yes, I do." He answers, handing me Jay's blue cup. "Why?"
I freeze the water.
"I am the future Ice ninja. And... I am a nindroid as well."
Zane looks shocked, but then he smiles softly.
"So.. are the others descendants also?"
"You'll find out if you need to. I just needed to put my conscious to rest. I'm not a fan of secrets. But you and I are more immune to the effects due to us not being human." I sigh and stand up. I feel a hand on my arm. I turn and see my dad holding on to me.
"Thank you. For.. opening up to me. It- it means a lot, Z." He says, and I smile.
"Of course." I say, and leave the room.
When I reach the window I look out at Kai and Nya's hometown. It's peaceful. Still. I decide to go outside, as everyone is asleep. Or... so I thought.
I see the deck and... Rebecca. I haven't spoken to her 1 on 1 since... the incident 4 months before her 16th birthday. I sigh, and approach her. She's punching a dummy, and muttering something under her breath. She doesn't notice me as I get closer, close enough to hear.
"Stupid. Stupid stupid stupid. Why can't you be more like Dad? I got us into this mess. I can't believe this. Why can't I just do something right?" She mutters. I do a double take. Rebecca Renea Garmadon, negative self talk? I have to do something.
"Bec." I say, and she jumps.
"Z! You startled me."
"What happened wasn't your fault."
"'What happened' cost you your father." She says, and I cringe.
"That wasn't what I meant. But that wasn't your fault either."
"Yes it was! If I hadn't asked you to train, you wouldn't have been stabbed, and his core would still be with him!" She shouted, going back to punching the dummy. I sigh.
"Rebecca. You may think it's your fault but it was an accident. I don't hate you, or anything you've done. I feel remorse because of the consequence of what happened, but that's not because of you.
And your birthday. That wasn't right of me to ignore you. I'm sorry." I say. She stops punching and turns at me, her green eyes glistening in the moonlight. A silver streak shines down her cheek.
"I don't want you to apologize. Not now, not ever." Her voice whispers in a waver.
"You, or anyone else. It was my power that sent us here. I'm the one who caused this. I'm the one who should be apologizing. I-"
"Bec.. come here." I say, and we embrace in a hug.
"I know it's hard. I knew it was gonna be hard since the day I was activated. And we may go through a lot. But the NGN will always be there for you. As our fathers may be brothers, you're my sister. You're family. And family is forever."
"Z.. thank you. I love you, brother." She sniffs.
"I love you too, Bec. Now, go get some sleep. You'll need your energy tomorrow. And I refuse to let you drink caffeine after last time." I joke. She giggles and mock whines.
"But Zeeeeee. I need coffeeeeee." She laughs again before smiling softly.
"You were on the toilet with diarrhoea for two days. I'm not letting you go through that again."
"Thank you, Z." She says.
"Of course, Bec."
"No.. I mean.. for being a part of my team." She smiles, and walks out of my line of sight.

So... I know layout is different, but what do you guys think? Remember back to chapter 2, when I mentioned that I was gonna explain Zane's absence? Well I'm working on it now XD
