Your POV
You and Danny had been fighting ghosts together for six months now and you had learned how to control your powers pretty well. You and Danny worked together as a perfect team and took out ghosts left, right, and center. They never had a chance against you two.
Until today.
You were panting and Danny was doing the same beside you. Vlad was floating not too far away, some blood coming out of a few wounds you had given him. Your nose was bleeding and you were pretty sure you had broken a few ribs. Danny faired about the same, some cuts and burns all over, the worse being on his shoulder where a huge gash was bleeding a lot.
"Give up children," yelled Vlad. You scowled and Danny let out a low growl. "You know you never had a chance against me," and then he started building up a massive ball of energy in his hand. Your eyes went wide.
"If he builds that big enough," you started.
"He'll wipe out the entire city," finished Danny bluntly. You nodded and turned to him. An idea came through your head and you smiled sadly to yourself. You had to freeze the ball of energy to stop it from exploding, therefore leaving yourself completely open to Vlad's attacks.
You knew what had to be done. You turned to Danny and grabbed his shoulders.
"I have an idea." He looked at you and you felt tears build in your eyes. "You know just as well as I do that one of us isn't coming out of this." His eyes went wide.
"No. No no. You can't. Please don't do this." He begged. You put a hand on his cheek and smiled.
"It's okay." He looked down and you felt him nod a little. Then he pulled you into a huge hug.
"You'll be fine. Make sure Sam and Tuck are safe," he whispered and you gasped. Then he used a partial ecto-blast and shot you backwards as far as he could without hurting you.
"Danny!! NO!!," you screamed as you flew backwards. Hitting the ground, all you could do was watch as Danny flew right into the way of Vlad and the energy ball. Vlad shot him over and over as he froze the ball, then you heard Vlad scream in anger as he realized what Danny was doing. You tried to get up but your a pain shot through your leg and you stumbled back down.
Helpless. That's what you felt as you sat there and watched the ball, Vlad, and Danny explode in light. When the dust cleared, you flew slowly into the aftermath of the ball. It had worked. Danny Freezing the ball prevented it from damaging anything huge, but you couldn't find Danny.
"Danny!! DANNY!!" You called out, flying through the piles of ice. Then what you saw made you gasp. Danny was lying still in the middle of a pile of ice chunks. You flew over to him as fast as you could and looked him over, hand over your mouth as you tried not to cry. He wasn't in his ghost form anymore. His white shirt was stained red in most places, but you could see small bits of green throughout. His eyes stayed closed and his breathing was shallow and ragged. You gently lifted his head and blushed his hair back, not noticing yourself start to cry.
You just sat there with him in your lap, still not moving as you rocked him gently back and forth.
"Don't leave me," you whispered. "Please don't leave me." Then you looked around and took off for the nearest hospital, not even stopping to look for Sam and Tucker yet. You knew they would be alright. Danny on the other hand wasn't. They took him from you quickly, a nurse coming to look at your wounds, but you brushed her off and mumbled about being fine. Your leg hurt like hell but you were fine.
"Don't leave me," you whispered once more before flying out the door.
**Small timeskip cause I'm lazy**
The next two weeks were not good. You spent most of your time at the hospital with Danny, in human form of course. Sam and Tucker had called you that night asking if you were fine, where you broke down crying and Sam had to come over to calm you down. They came to the hospital a lot too, and brought you your homework since you hadn't gone back to school yet, but they started three days after the explosion.
You had sustained multiple cuts and bruises, a broken leg, a sprained wrist, two broken ribs and a minor concussion, but that was nothing compared to Danny.
Broken arm, broken ankle, dislocated shoulder, major concussion, cuts and bruises, he needed 10 stitches on his shoulder, and a bit of internal bleeding. The doctors fixed him as best as they could, but he was still unconscious. His mom and dad were devastated, and they were always there to visit as well.
But you were there the most. You had spent two weeks so far, just sitting by his bed, either sleeping, reading, or just watching his chest go up and down. He had in a nose cannula and you noticed the hospital sheets made him look so tiny. You cried a lot, thinking that it should've been you, that you should've pushed him out of the way first.
Vlads body was found later. He was dead. The public finally found out who he really was. Vlad Plasmius was announced as Vlad Masters. The ghosts had stopped for the most part, so you didn't need to worry about patrol. You had definitely grown weaker, you had barely eaten and the bags under your eyes told the story of how much sleep you had missed. On the nights you did sleep, you found yourself plagued by nightmares of Vlad or something happening to Danny, and woke up, not sleeping again that night.
So here you were. Two weeks later, with your head resting on Danny's bed, one hand over his, the other playing with a lint ball on the blanket as you hummed a song that was stuck in your head. Then you felt a twitch, and your eyes went wide. Sitting straight up, you waited for his hand to twitch again. But nothing. So you just put your head back down and watched him, begging in your head for him to wake up.
Danny's POV
Ugh. Everything hurt. He wasn't sure what happened after he pushed Y/n away and froze the big ball. Right now all he could see was darkness. He felt sluggish and gross and when he tried to move his limbs, they felt like they were made of lead. He couldn't move, and he hated it. He wasn't sure what was happening, or where he was, but he did know that he heard something.
Someone was-... humming. And he felt a light pressure on his hand. "Y/n," he thought to himself. He could feel himself slipping again, going into the darkness. It was getting hard to focus on her. But he gathered as much strength as he could and forced one finger to twitch slightly, hoping she had felt it. When he did, he heard the humming stop and someone sit up.
He knew his message had gotten though, so he let go and slipped back into what felt like an eternal sleep.
___________________________Damn. Okay then. I am so sorry for not updating for a while, I had a case of writers block and decided to work on a few other stories. Then the idea for this came to me. Sorry if it's bad:/
I am working on a MariChat oneshot collection and my personal favourite, a TMNT story where the boys get stuck in our world. I really suggest you go read them. Hope y'all liked this chapter!!
(Edit: I'll probably be doing some editing on other chapters soon)
