"So, what are you gonna do about your rumors with the Haibas?", Bf/n asked while looking for a show to watch. Within the past week, Y/n has accumulated not only a dating rumor with Suna, but also the Haibas. Her fans of course, unlike Kenma's, are smart enough not to believe a word those sketchy YouTube channels about famous streamers and YouTubers have said.
Y/n didn't seem to hear, as she continued to scroll through her past conversation with Kenma. Neither of them has bothered to check up on each other within the past week. Though Bf/n's apartment was only one floor beneath his.
Bf/n put the remote down, turning their head to look at Y/n with a worried look on their face. They waved their hand, trying to get her attention. "Hello? Spare me some time, please, ma'am.", they stood up to sneak a look at her phone, the sudden movement causing their head to feel heavy.
Their eyes scanned the conversation, looking up and down with a scrunched face. Bf/n's eyes went wide when they saw the date on the messages.
"Holy hell, a whole week? Here I thought you wouldn't go an hour without each other now that you're back in Japan." they mentioned.
"Can you maybe not sneak up on me like that?", Y/n sighed, earning a laugh from her best friend. She was guilty of staying up at night thinking of how to start a conversation with Kenma. Perhaps she shouldn't have been too cold.
"When was the last time you've seen each other?", they asked curiously. As much as they hate to admit it, they're not aware of Y/n's emotions all the time.
Y/n paused and shut her phone off, contemplating whether or not to tell Bf/n because she was afraid they might get the wrong idea. However, her mouth had other plans. "Morning after the party.", she unexpectedly answered.
Bf/n began to process things, the alcohol, Akaashi leaving early and coming back right after, it wasn't that hard to put two and two together... and get the wrong idea, while doing so. "No... You guys didn't actually-- you know... sle-", they struggled to express their thoughts.
"No! It's- It's not that! Well.. well we kissed and.. maybe a few other things but we didn't, you know, do THAT." she tried to explain, the last few words only coming out as a murmur.
Bf/n tried to find the right words to comfort their best friend. "Well.. do you regret it?", they asked.
"That's the problem. I don't know if I regret it.. but I- I liked it a lot..." , she admitted to both herself and her best friend.
"Okay.", they sat down right in front of her, a serious look written on their face, matching the tone of their voice. Bf/n was well aware they aren't the best person to seek advice from, but considering they're the only one Y/n really trusts, that pretty much narrows down the competition. "Can you see yourself in a relationship with Kenma?"
"Well, that depends on how you define relationship...", Y/n stayed still and answered, refusing to make eye contact.
"Like.. you know, the usual stuff. Holding hands, kissing, cuddling..."
She paused, thinking about how they've already done all that.
Bf/n sighed as if they had already read her mind, "Right, done that already."
"But like. would you wanna wake up to his face everyday, be there for him, care for him, marry him, have his babies, push him around in a wheelchair, and eventually scatter his ashes and die?" Bf/n asked, making yet again another movie reference.
"That far ahead? I'm pretty sure Kenma doesn't even want ki-", she tried to respond but got cut off.
"Just answer the damn question."
"Well, yeah. I thought that was obvious.", she answered truthfully.
"Hm. It is.", Bf/n hummed before continuing to speak ."Why don't you call him?", they suggested.
Y/n could only scoff, thinking about how Kenma must be playing with that girl she saw in his stream. "Yeah, because it's that easy.", she said in disbelief.
"Yeah, it is that easy.", Bf/n paused. "So you... are gonna have to get it together-", a chime from their phone interrupted, getting both of their attention.
Y/n read the expression on Bf/n's face and tried to figure out the cause of the sudden change. She leaned her head to the side with a confused expression visible in her eyes, watching her bestfriend stifle as they tried to hold in a laugh.
"What is it?", Y/n tried to peek at the phone to read the notification but Bf/n moved it away defensively.
"Nothing.", Bf/n responded as they typed away on their phone.
KENMA'S SIDE
"But mom, she's probably busy-", Kenma tried to argue but his mother only huffed.
"Nonsense. I want her here tonight for dinner so she better be here.", Mrs. Kozume refused to take her son's statements.
"I already to-", Kenma got cut off once again by the loud clanging of the kitchen utensils his mom was washing.
Mrs. Kozume faced her son's direction, a vein seeming to pop from anger. "You will bring her here tonight whether you like it or not, no excuses. I want to see her.", his mother forced a smile despite being impatient.
Kenma stayed awfully silent, planning his next words carefully. "And... and if I can't?", he asked cautiously, his father only watched while eating.
"You will." his mother shooting him a death glare.
His mother sighed before muttering continuously, "Hah, I can't believe the men in this family, always making the women make the first move. No wonder you still can't get a girlfriend. You've been friends with her for ten years and yet nothing has happened. I can't believe I raised a son who's 25 and never had a girlfriend.", his mother ranted.
Mr. Kozume felt a look of disbelief directed towards his seat, causing him to choke on his food.
'Well something has happened...'
Kenma tried to formulate a plan on how to get Y/n to talk to him in his head, the first step being messaging her closest friend.
