"Hmmm.." Y/n groaned.

His body froze in both shock and panic.

Did she wake up because of me? Oh my god...

Do I call a doctor?

Do I check on her or should I let the doctor do it?

Should I ch- No! You're not a doctor, go get a doctor!

Alright, option 2 seems like it would be best..

Hold on why am I rambling inside my head?!

Kenma ran out the hospital room, forgetting about both the button found beside the bed and Kuroo who was sleeping due to panic and adrenaline rushing inside him.

He hasn't felt like this in years.

Both excitement and anxiety coursing throughout his whole body, Kenma didn't know what to do.

"She woke up!" He grabs a nurse by the arm like a little child and pulls him to the room.

The nurse almost tripped, letting go of his clipboard and just following the boy's direction.

Y/n still has her eyes closed but her body moves every now and then, letting out soft groans and whimpers.

Soon enough, the doctor came rushing in, examining the girl.

Kenma waited impatiently outside.

What if she doesn't remember me? What if she didn't even wanna wake up?

After a few minutes of waiting, Y/n's family finally came, S/n who was supposed to be at work was now here, and her parents came along too.

Her uncle Keishin was now on the way to Tokyo and so were her other cousins.

They went inside the room to find Y/n sitting up and rubbing her head and neck.

She must be confused.

He wanted to hug her right there, but he can't, that would be weird, wouldn't it?

Her family was still there,  and they think they're just friends, but they are just friends, right?

Right.

Hopefully not for long...

He thought to himself.

Who cares? I'll waste all my energy on you if that's what it takes to make you happy.

"Sorry but..." she began to speak, her voice was quiet.

"If you don't mind me asking.. who-who are you guys?" she continued.

Kenma's heart almost stopped beating right then and there. Why should the world be so cruel to him? This felt like a level he could never beat.

"Sike." time seemed to slow down as the word left her mouth, after that, Kenma's ears rang, as if they were trying to process what she had just said.

Was his ears alright?

Everything was silent for him, and now his sense of time seemed to be messed up, what happened infront of him was sped up.

His consciousness was regained when he felt her soft hand touch his head.

Eyes locked on each other's, it seemed like they were communicating inside their heads, and Y/n was telling him she was fine.

...

Kenma planned to visit the hospital everyday until she was discharged, and the once dreadful feeling he experienced back then was now replaced with excitement.

Sure, they texted, but he wanted more. He wanted to spend time with her to make up for the lost time.

He opened the door to her room, expecting her to be sleeping but instead, she was already gaming on her phone which her cousin sneaked in for her.

Her head turned to his direction and a smile formed on her lips, putting down the phone and running to him.

"Kenma!"

Kenma's eyes widened, remembering she needed to rest and wasn't yet fully recovered.

Even the girl forgot that she still couldn't rest properly and a thump was heard when she fell right on top of Kenma's chest.

The boy groaned in response, pain slowly coming up his body.

"I- Uhh-- S-Sorry." she apologized, trying and struggling to stand up.

Kenma fixed himself up to try to help her too.

"You should be more careful now, something might've happened to you if you'd have done that with no one watching."

He knew she wasn't stupid enough to run and fall for no reason, but these days, he wasn't really sure.

"I missed you." Y/n whispered to him, squeezing his hand as she pulls herself up.

Idiot, shouldn't I be the one saying that?

Both of them sat on her bed, she requested to be alone for a while so the nurses left.

"...Missed you too." also whispering in response.

Kenma felt an overwhelming amount of happiness, he hasn't felt this way in months, but he kept his composure and acted naturally around her.

"You don't look so excited to see me, not gonna lie, that kinda hurts." she teased him and gave a pout.

The boy sighed, fixing his golden eyes to look at hers.

Y/n stared at him and as cliché as it may sound, time really did slow down. The sunset which could be seen through the windows perfectly brought out the colors in his eyes.

This wasn't the first time in her life she's seen them but it was the first time in a while.

"What do you want me to do? Carry you?" he responded.

Y/n was brought back from her head to the current reality.

"In game, yes. In here, I doubt you could." she teased him and laid on her bed gently, staring at the ceiling the same way Kenma stared at her.

She couldn't wait to get out of the hospital, and he couldn't wait to take her places.

"Let's go to the arcade after I get out." she says to him blankly.

"Alright, then let's get apple pie and ice cream right after." he tells her, wanting it to be a date.

The girl giggled in response and got up from the bed.

A sigh was heard before she spoke.

"Alright." she says and smiled at the boy.

How he wished he could see this scene from another perspective and take a picture so the moment could last forever.

She broke eye contact, resting her head on Kenma's lap instead of the mountains of  pillows the hospital had provided.

Eyes closed and mind at peace, the girl drifted off to sleep.

His fingers brushed gently through her hair and sometimes stroked her cheeks.

You probably didn't do it for me... but thank you for waking up and playing this game with me a little longer.
