I woke up early the next morning, the thrill of excitement running through my body like electricity. I remembered what day it was, I grabbed my phone and sent a quick good morning text to Nathan along with 'Happy one month anniversary'

Then I jumped out of bed and into action. I got into the shower and washed my hair, then I left it to dry naturally and pulled on my clothes. I had no idea what Nathan had in mind for today, so I decided to wear a navy blue skirt patterned with tiny red, white and dark pink flowers. I then put on a simple black t-shirt and my red blazer and pulled on my black ankle boots. I tried to drag my brush through my unruly wet curls, but only resorted in making my hair frizzier. Oh well, I though to myself, he's coming round at lunch time I think so there'll be more time to sort my hair out later. I didn't bother with make up first thing, and skipped down the stairs, landing lightly on the tips of my toes. I couldn't be bothered with breakfast and I wasn't that hungry, so I grabbed a few ingredients out of my cupboards and started on making a cake to mark the special occasion. A month, gosh I think, as I blend the ingredients together, has it really been that long? Time has flies by so quickly. As I'm pouring the mixture into a cake tin, the phone rings.

"Hello?"

"It's me!"

"Who is me?" I question, although I know exactly who it is,

"It's Sophie... Duh!" Sophie says through the phone to me, making me laugh,

"So, how did it go?" I ask,

"How did what go?" Sophie questions, acting innocent,

"Sophie," I begin, "you know full well what I'm talking about! How was your date with Rory?"

I eventually get the whole story out of her whilst I finish off the cake and pop it in the oven. Turns out she had a really nice time and she's seeing him again tonight. After a long talk about him and just things in general, I say to her,

"I really don't want to stop talking to you, but I've got to go and get ready!"

"Oh I see, what's the special occasion? Though I'm sure I can guess,"

"It's our one month anniversary actually," I say, a proud smile lighting up my face,

"Aww that's so sweet! Well have a great time!" Sophie exclaims. We exchange goodbyes and then I rush upstairs to my bedroom to finish off my outfit. I keep my makeup natural and then begin sorting my hair again. Just as I make a start to pulling the brush through my long brown curls, I hear car rumble up along my lane, I peer out the window just in time to see Nathan's car pull up in my driveway. Damn it! Here's here already! I think to myself. I watch him get out the car and open the window and shout down to him,

"Just let yourself in! You know where I keep the key!"

Nathan looks up and smiles at me, he looks perfect, even from far away. I smile as he gives me the thumbs up and turn back to sorting out my hair. I'm so self-absorbed in making sure my hair doesn't look too wild that I don't notice footsteps padding softly up the stairs towards me, until its too late. Nathan sneaks up behind me, places his hands around my waist and leans down and whispers,

"Happy anniversary love," kissing the top of my forehead. I gasp, and in fright I stumble forwards into my mirror and Nathan loses his balance also and falls down beside me. We both gasp, frightened incase the other is hurt, but we soon realise neither one is injured and as our eyes meet we burst out laughing.

"Oh my god Nathan! You have me the fright of my life!"

"I'm sorry, but it was too tempting! I had to do that!" He says still giggling with that cheeky glint that I love, still sparking in his eyes. Nathan stands up and stretches his hand out to me, pulling me up off the floor.
