YOUR POV
You woke up in a sweat breathing heavily in your new apartment bedroom. Nightmares were a constant thing for you and they never really went away and each time it felt real as it could get. It's been 3 months since the battle of New York and you seem to not be able to forget that day it replays in your head constantly so you decided to go shower then get some breakfast. You got dressed in some black ripped jeans with a white sweatshirt and some white converse to go to this new cafe down the street. Walking seemed to help clear your head a lot more so you walk everywhere now instead of taking your 1969 impala to go places. On your way to the cafe you sensed someone following you but didn't think much of it so you carried on to get some coffee and a breakfast sandwich after I had one blood bag from the fridge. "Hello" the cute girl at the register greeted me with. "Hi. Can I get a dark coffee only sugar and one bacon egg and cheese sandwich please?" I responded. "Sure thing! That'll be $10.50" she replied. I gave her my money and said thank you and carried on with my until I saw a spot of red hair and I could recognize it anywhere. I noticed the beautiful red head from the battle of New York across the street and it looked as she was waiting for me because she locked eyes with me then started walking towards me. I suddenly was frozen and didn't know what to do when the extraordinary red headed women approached me. "Hello." She greeted me with. And it took me a second to register what she just said and stuttered out a "h-hi". Probably the worse I've ever froze before. "I'm Natasha Romanoff" she reached her hand out for me to take. I could hear her thoughts of how this was only part of her actual name but I didn't mind. "I'm Y/N Stevens" I shook her hand as well and smiled at her. "Great. I need you to come with me" she stated. I was shocked at what she said but nodded in agreement and followed her to where she was taking me and decided not to read her mind to spice things up not like she was allowing much access to her mind anyways.
NATASHA'S POV
Knock knock. "Come in." Fury called out. "You said you needed to see me sir for a mission" I said. "Yes I do. I need you to retrieve this person for me" he said as he threw a folder down towards me. My breath hitched as I saw it was the same girl from New York when she saved me from an alien. I had been wondering what happened to her. "Sir if you don't mind me asking but why is she important?" I commented to Fury. Fury sighed and looked at me and continued, "She is one of the most powerful beings on earth and we are gonna need her help." He didn't seem too thrilled but I trust his judgement and don't ask questions when it comes to him. I nodded my head in agreement and dressed casually because fury said she wasn't a threat and I didn't need to be hostile. I walked towards her new apartment and waited for her to leave before I snuck in to get any information from anything at all. She didn't have much but she had a few pictures of her and a blonde girl. Also she had these journals that were like high school textbooks thick. I realized that there wasn't anything here that I needed so I decided to follow her to the cafe she went too and wait for her until she was done. Once she walked out with coffee in hand and a bag of food. We caught eachother's eyes and I started walking towards her and she seemed frozen like she didn't know what to expect. "Hello" I greeted her which seemed to be kind of awkward. She greeted me back after a moment of just staring. "I'm Natasha Romanoff" I said know that was partially my name but I didn't want to give too much information. "I'm Y/N Stevens" the brunette said back as we shook hands. I noticed her eyes were hazel but had gold in them and she was a lot taller than I thought standing at about 5'10 and I was only 5'5. I told her to come with me because she was needed and she nodded and followed me to the black corvette I drove here with. I honestly thought she would've asked questions about where we were going but she was way more interested in her food and coffee. "Do you have any gum? I don't wanna have coffee breath in case you wanna make out before you dump my body." She joked. I let out a little chuckle finding it funny that she was flirting but I wasn't going to give in and flirt back I just pointed to the dashboard and she found a piece of gum and popped it in her mouth.
                                 YOUR POV
I tried to lighten the mood by saying a joke but it didn't do much she jus chuckled and that was all I got out of her. I figured she'd be a tough one to read but I didn't think it would this hard. She seemed relaxed like she had picked up strangers 1 million times before and she didn't show any signs of discomfort or anxiety so I relaxed as well even though I already knew where we were going. I decided there's no point in running from Nick Fury anymore because in the end he'll always find you. As we pulled up to S.H.E.I.L.D. HQ I realized that maybe I should've just turned and jumped out the car. Super hero life wasn't my life anymore but damn did I miss it. As we walked to Nick Fury's office I noticed we got a lot of stares. I was starting to wonder about Ms. Romanoff's reputation and how much I could be apart of it. Maybe just Maybe things would be different.
