The New Boy|Chapter 1

Me,Julian, Charlotte , and Jack Will were sitting in the main office. Mr. Tushman made us tour the new kid. His name is August Pullman but he prefers to be called Auggie. He had to get multiple surgeries on his face so he looks a little weird, but I'm not one to judge!

The door to Mr. Tushman's office opened. "Auggie this is Jack Will, Julian, Charlotte, and Y/n. This is Auggie Pullman." Mr.Tushman said. I looked at him and waved.

"Hi."Auggie mumbled. We all said hi back. Julian looked down and stared at his feet. Jack Will smiled at Auggie. Charlotte smiled as well. I held my hand out for him to shake, he hesitated but shook my hand.

Then we all went silent, I looked at Auggie curiously as he examined all our shoes. "I act in tv commercials." Charlotte said out of nowhere breaking the silence. "Really?" Auggie's mom asked. "Yeah, tide." Charlotte replied.

"Why don't you guys take Auggie around the school now." Mr.Tushman said. I nodded. "Be back here..in a half hour." He told us. One by one all the kids left the office. Julian first, Charlotte second, me third, Auggie fourth, leaving Jack Will last.

We were walking in the halls following Julian. "I started when I was two, local spots mostly. Then when I was three I booked my first national." Charlotte said. I zoned out on the rest. Charlotte is a nice girl just talkative.

"So! This is our home room, we have Mr.Browne." Julian shouted the first bit. "My mom says he's a little weird." Julian continued. Then we began walking down the stairs.

"Then I was in the chorus of the radio city music hall." Charlotte said. Oh god here we go. She did a twirl. "Christmas Special, it was spectacular." Charlotte continued. That's when I zoned out again.

We entered the cafeteria. "Hey Charlotte, don't you ever stop talking." Julian said. I did a thumbs up on the side of my leg. Only Julian noticed, thank god. Julian is my best friend. Charlotte went silent and looked down.

"So this is the cafeteria." Julian said. "The food here is..okay for school food. Or do you eat special food?" Julian asked. I was kinda confused on why Julian would ask that but Auggie just shook his head.

A few minutes later we entered the science room. "Wow, this reminds me of my guest spot on law and order." Charlotte said. Jeez she such a pick me girl. "So the science elective is supposed to be really hard. So you probably won't be spending much time here." Julian told Auggie.

"No offense but if you've never been in a real school before" Julian said. Jack Will opened his mouth for the first time today. "Dude he's been home schooled." Jack said. "Ok? I'm just saying, science is supposedly really hard. I bet your taking it to right? Hey maybe you can fail together." Julian said with a chuckle at the end.

I looked at him and shook my head. "Why don't you get out of the way, so we can check it out." Jack Will told Julian. "Ok." Is all Julian said as he backed into the class. "I mean there's nothing much to see desks,chairs, incubator,bugs and birds. Those are some really gross science pictures." Julian started. Then he picked up a whiteboard eraser. "Oh and this an eraser." He said.

God how stupid does he think he is? "He knows what an eraser is." Charlotte spoke, finally saying something productive. "How am I supposed to know what he knows?" Julian asked. "He doesn't say anything." Julian finished. "You know what an eraser is, right?" Charlotte asked.

Auggie didn't respond but I heard Jack whisper to him. "Yeah I know what an eraser is." Auggie said. Nobody said anything. "I-Is your name Jack or Jack Will?" Auggie asked. Julian laughed. "Wait you thought his name was Jack Will?" Julian asked.

"Yeah a lot of people call me by my first and last name." Jack Will told Auggie. "I don't know why." He said along with it. "Got any other questions?" Jack asked. "Actually I've got a question for Auggie." Julian said. "What's the deal with you're face?" Julian asked.

I put a hand over my mouth in shock. "Julian I know you did not just say that." I blurted out finally saying something after all this time. "Dude." Jack said to Julian. "I mean were you in a car crash or something?" Julian asked. "Julian!" Charlotte said in shock. "What? Tushman said we could ask questions if we wanted to." Julian said.

"Not rude questions! Besides he was born like that Mr.Tushman said." Charlotte shouted. "Yeah I know, I just thought maybe he was in a fire too." Julian said. "Hey Julian." Jack said walking over to him. "Shut up."

"You shut up!" Julian shouted. "Why don't we all shut up!" Charlotte shouted. I took this as my chance and grabbed Auggie's hand and pulled him into the hallway. "Hey don't listen to Julian, he's a jerk." I told Auggie.

"But he's you're best friend." Auggie said. "I know but he can still be a jerk." I said laughing a bit. "Besides I like your face, I think it's unique!" I told him. He smiled at me. "How about we be friends?" I asked. He nodded. "Great!" I said pulling him into a hug.

Julian came rushing out the class room. "Get you're hands off of him Y/n!" Julian shouted. "Julian shut up!" I yelled. He pushed me to far. "Y/n.." he started. "No Julian!" I yelled gripping Auggie's hand into mine and walking down the hall and back to the office.

After Auggie left me and Julian were talking. "You really shouldn't have said that about him Jule" I told Julian. "I'm sorry ok, I was just curious. Sleepover Saturday?" He asked I nodded.
