May I Stay?

"How long will you stay?"
They ask with a smile.
Here I have no pain,
Nothing I say is on trial.
The breeze is slow,
Through the tall and dry grass,
I look to the orange sky,
Through which small clouds pass.
They hand me a flower,
Which reminds me of home;
How far I've come,
And how far I've flown.
I want to stay here,
Where my name isn't real,
Where the world has forgotten me,
And no sadness to feel.
The sun's on my face,
As I wait for the stars,
And no need to cover,
My wrists or my scars.
I let out a sigh.
I want this to last;
But the more I long for time to slow,
The more it becomes fast.
I close my eyes,
I make a wish,
My wish isn't for anything,
Other than this.
"How long will you stay?"
They ask with a smile.
I reply; "Is forever,
A long enough while?"
