------------

Sunlight shines through the windows as the curtains are drawn open. A young, barely adult porcupine has just moved into their new home.

They had moved out of their parents home earlier than they had wanted, but their parents encouraged them to. Some boxes still lay scatted around their two story house. (An attic  counts right? Do they have an attic? They do now.)

The young person opens a small box in front of them. Inside the small box is a bunch of letters and a single framed picture. They lift the framed picture up and look at with a lonely expression. The picture is of a pet with blurred out parents in the back (oblivious to the fact that they aren't the main focus) smiling without a care.

The young person trembles with fear.

"I shouldn't have left home!", they exclaim, clearly missing their family pet.

('Hey, what about us?', The blurred out parents screamed, again in the back.)

Ignoring the brief fit of insanity, the young porcupine hears knocking at their door. Their fear shoots up and they stay rooted to the spot they stand. Minutes pass as thought zip quickly in and out of their mind. So many horrible scenarios pop up until more knocking breaks them out of their mind.

"H-Hello?"

'Please don't be something s-scary or v-v-violent!', the porcupine thinks.

The porcupine ran to the door and reveal who is on the other side. It is a pink chipmunk with a bow in her hair.

"Hi, I'm Giggles! It's nice to meet you."

"Oh, h-hello Giggles. I like your o-outfit. I'm F-Flaky."

"Thank you! My friend, Petunia, made so I could help her clean her house. She said it would be easier to have a single outfit made specifically for that purpose. I didn't get it, but it's fine. She has severe OCD, so I went with it."

"W-well what made you visit me today?"

Giggles brighten and smiled wide.

"We are giving you a welcoming party! It's on Saturday."

Giggles spoke as though her mouth was faster than her thoughts. Quickly she added, "BTW, I will be taking you there so don't worry about finding it!"

Flaky sweated a bit at the idea of interacting with so many strangers at once and worried about their quills hurting someone.

Noticing how pale Flaky was getting, Giggles added, "It's okay if you don't want a party. We can skip it!"

"W-what? O-oh no! Please, I w-would love a party! You must have worked very hard on it, please."

Giggles smiled at how kind and timid Flaky seemed to be, she also noticed how Flaky was trying to be her friend despite the clear fear in her eyes. She's liking Flaky more and more.

"Okay, if you insist."

Flaky made a cute, little smile with a faint blush. Giggles wanted to squeal, but stopped since she didn't want to scare Flaky.

"I almost forgot, after the party, we are going to have information session. Petunia will hand you a large folder with everything you need to know. She actually sent me here so I can also ask you about things you like. That way she can add a few things you might be interested in. We are on the Neighborhood Committee."

"O-oh thank you so much! That w-will really help!"

"No problem. Well, I have to go now, see you Saturday Flaky!"

"G-good bye, Giggles! I c-can't wait!"

Giggles left Flaky's sight and they closed the door.
