May 7: 2 Corinthians 5:17

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come."

Comment:

Our bodies are tainted by sin. Each and every one of us has been born into a life that is controlled by it. Each of us from the day of our birth have been brought into a world where we have been trapped into the slavery of sin. It is our taskmaster. It is our owner. As disappointing and as sad as that may sound, it is the complete truth. There is no room for denial.

But, we mustn't give in to complete despair for there IS hope! We have been given a chance at redemption through the shed blood of Jesus Christ! It is through the bloodstains on the wood of the cross that we have been given the opportunity to be made new! Through His death, Jesus has made it clear to us that we don't have to be a slave to sin. We don't have to be under the oppression of something that leads us only to death. We can be born again into a new life in Christ. We can be made new into a servant of Christ instead a servant to destruction!

You see, there is freedom in living a life with Christ. When we are born again, sin ceases to have a hold on us. It is Jesus who has full command over our hearts and souls. There is no room for sin to have the upper hand!
