This is like.....an AU
This will have my OC in it. Another two soulmates thing. This was written with an OC who has been updated since but I don't remember if I actually wrote about anything that I changed. Idk. I'm actually really proud of this. So....uh....yeah have fun reading this.

As we sat around the fire, Hajime began strumming a vaguely familiar melody. "Anyone up for a song...? I learned how to play a few songs in my free time." He said in a soft yet cheerful voice.

Shadows settle on the place that you left
Our minds are troubled by the emptiness

Shuichi squeezed my hand as he sang the first lyrics of a song we'd all somehow forgotten.

Destroy the middle, it's a waste of time
From the perfect start to the finish line

Maki continued, her voice quiet but bold all the same.

And if you're still breathing, you're the lucky ones
Cause most of us are heaving through corrupted lungs

Shuichi sang softly. I couldn't tell if his voice was soft because of all of our sadness or just the mood of the night.

Setting fire to our insides for fun
Collecting names of the lovers that went wrong....
The lovers that went wrong...

I locked eyes with the blue haired boy. I remembered the things Kokichi taught me about reading eyes and facial expressions. Even after all he that time spent, I couldn't read him. Just like how I couldn't read the eyes of the boy in front of me. His eyes stared blankly into mine. There was no sparkle to them like I remembered when we first met. When we first met, he hid behind his hat. Hiding from the demons that haunted him regarding the case he had miraculously solved. With time, we all managed to break his shell. He became more outgoing and confident. He had a magnificent sparkle to his eyes that Kokichi would point out so very often. Seeing them so dull only added to the despair I felt.

We are the reckless, we are the wild youth
Chasing visions of our futures
One day, we'll reveal the truth
That one will die before he gets there....

Himiko sang, then Shuichi, then Maki, then I. For a split second, Kokichi flashed in my mind.

And if you're still bleeding, you're the lucky ones
Cause most of our feelings, they are dead and they are gone

I gently stroked Shuichi's thigh as he stared down at the ground.

We're setting fire to our insides for fun
Collecting pictures from the flood that wrecked our home
It was a flood that wrecked this home

With an unknown beauty, the lyrics danced off of Maki's tongue.

And you caused it
And you caused it
And you caused it

Himiko stared off into the distance, her voice so tender.

Well I've lost it all, I'm just a silhouette
I'm a lifeless face that you will soon forget
And my eyes are damp from the words you left
Ringing in my head, when you broke my chest
Ringing in my head, when you broke my chest...

At that very moment, I could tell that Maki thought of Kaito. The song portraying how she felt. She loved Kaito, she really did.

And if you're in love, they you are the lucky one
Cause most of us are bitter over someone
