Meeting you that day, my benediction came true. I had always prayed for someone to be my bestfriend, a confidante and a soul on whom I could rely.

Had things not turned out the way they did, Lan Zhan, you'd have been my everything a lot sooner.

I am sorry.

I left you all alone.

"What is this father?"

Uncle Jiang Fengmian had a beautiful white intricate letter in his hand. Smiling at Jiang Cheng's question; uncle answered with pride,
"It's a letter from Gusu Lan Sect inviting the Yunmeng Jiang Sect disciples to attend their Sect this year for studying about cultivation methods and techniques."

Gusu Lan Clan.

The name made me feel warm for some reason and the thought of studying elsewhere and being away from Madam Yu sounded more promising.

Should have known otherwise.

"This year Ah Li, Ah Xian and you would be attending Gusu Lan Sect. Learn from them and understand the intricacies of various cultivation techniques and how we need to follow rules and regulations to achieve the desired content. Lan Qiren is a well-known master and so are this nephews, revered as Two Jades of Gusu."

Shijie was about to speak when Madam Yu entered the room and snatched the letter from uncle's hand and glared at me.

"Why is he going?" Turning towards uncle to give her snide remarks, Madam Yu continued, "He's not even a member of Yunmeng Jiang Sect. His father was a mere servant who ran away with his mother. Why are you sending him there?"

By now my ears were immune to her words. It long stopped hurting me. Maybe if she ever spoke to me with modest consideration, that would surprise me.

"Madam Yu! I have voiced my opinion on this matter time and again. Ah Xian is like my son and that won't ever change. He will accompany Ah Li and Ah Cheng as one of the disciples of Yunmeng Jiang Sect."

Giving no further reason for Madam Yu to argue, we all knew that this was uncle's final decision. This meant that I would get a chance to be away from Zidian and finally fullfill my heart's desire to be free. Finaly.

 Finaly
