Whispers and baby steps

I was starting to speak

My plan was full of whispers

Not shouts

I was going to start to take

Baby steps

Insey tinsey

Little baby steps

But that's never how it goes for me

Because instead of taking a baby step

I stomped

Instead of whispering

I shouted

Morgan

Typical Iowa teen

Cowgirl mother fucker

Redneck

Racist

Trump supporter

Xenophobic

Anti-feminist

Farmer

Homophobic

Hate

Here

She found out I was gay

Fake friend told her

So Danielle told me

Morgan said I had a crush on her

Danielle told me in Agriculture class

Fucking farmers

Guess who else was in that class

Sitting not ten feet from me

Morgan

So I raised my voice

And I told her

I don't like you

Even as a friend

Or acquaintance

So you better not be going around

Telling everybody that I have a crush on you

Because I'm

Gay

Guess what Morgan?

That's extremely homophobic but even more

It's extremely

Dumb and Ignorant

And no girl would ever

Ever

Have a crush on you

So you should shut the hell up

But I spoke loud

And teacher teacher heard me

And sent me to the councilor

For raising my voice

And telling a class mate to shut the hell up

Mrs. Councilor is nice

So she told me that some teachers don't like the word

Hell

And we played go fish until the class period ended
