just a nightmare

*Eren POV*

"Eren!"
I heard someone say my name out loud.
Someone was shaking me roughly, so that I would wake up.
Sleepily I fought against the person who wanted to disturb my sleep.
"Go away ... give me at least five more minutes!"
I slowly opened my eyes to see who woke me up, in the middle of the night.

Then, when I could see the person above me better, I was quite surprised.
"M-Mikasa? What happened? Why are you here?"

Mikasa sat on the edge of my bed and I sat up.
"I- I am sorry... i had just a nightmare..."
She stared at the floor, avoiding my gaze.

I looked at her worried.
"A nightmare? What nightmare, tell me about it."

I waited impatiently for an answer but Mikasa did not answered.
Since she remained silent I put a hand on her shoulder.
"Mikasa.."

She winced and I took my hand away again.
"Are you okay?
Was the dream so terrible?"

Finally she faced me, she nodded.
"Yes... I- I dreamed that you died...
I was scared and that is why I came to see if you were okay."
She was trembling slightly.

"What a stupid dream... nothing happened to me, see?"
I put my arms around her body from behind and hugged her.
"Have you calmed down now?"

Mikasa nodded.
"Yes it is alright.
Thank you Eren"

I let her go.

"Eren?"
Mikasa asked.
I looked at her questioningly.

"What is it?"

"Can I stay with you?
Just tonight?"
The black-haired girl looked at me pleadingly.

"Mikasa, that is not allowed, go in your room,what should the others think of us?"

"But...please, Eren"
She begged desperately in a whisper-tone.

"You can not just sleep in the same bed with me Mikasa, we are not kids anymore."

"Where is the problem?"
Mikasa looked at me confused.

I blushed.
"Of course there is a problem, I am a boy and you are a girl..."

Mikasa looked at me in silence for a moment, thinking, then she blushed and smiled embarrassed.
"Oh, that is what you mean."

I sighed.
"However, if you want it so much and you are scared, it is okay i guess..."

Mikasa's eyes lit up.
"Thank you Eren."
Mikasa grabbed my hand and brought it to her breast.
"Can you feel it Eren?"
She whispered.

"W-What?"
I blinked nervously.

"My heart is beating crazy right now, i think it is because of you."

I pulled my hand away from her chest.
My cheeks burned red and i looked away flustered.
"What nonsense... your heart beats pretty normally."
In fact, her heart was beating somewhat faster, but I did not wanted to make the moment any weirder than it already was, that is why I lied.

"oh well..."
Mikasa bowed her head.
Somehow she looked disappointed now.
Did I hurt her now?
I sighed.
I leaned down and put my ear to her chest.
"But I can hear it i guess"
Oh man, what am I doing here?
I felt my cheeks getting even hotter.

Mikasa put a hand on my head and stroked it gently.
"That is good, it beats only for you in this very moment now."

I moved away from her and grabbed her hand and brought it to my chest.
"I hope you can feel my heartbeat too"

Mikasa nodded and smiled.
"Yes I feel it clearly, that means that you are alive."

"Of course I am alive..."
I looked at her in confusion, then sighed.
"Anyways, let us sleep now, otherwise we will wake up Armin"

Mikasa nodded and we lay down. The bed was too small for us two so It somehow was not so that comfortable.
Whatever, this bed was not it anyways.
Mikasa pressed against me, even though there was already little space.
But it was okay, as long as she felt safe.

I was almost asleep, when I felt someone put their arms around me.
"Mikasa?"

"It's cold... "
She whispered near to my ear.

"You think so?
It is not that cold in this room at all." Then what was the reason for, that she snuggled up to me like that?

"But it is comfortable that way."
The black-haired girl pulled her arms closer around me.

"Mikasa are you going to suffocate me while I sleep or what is that supposed to be? "

No response but she did not let go of me either.
I took a deep breath.
"Fine... but please do not lie on top of me, when i wake up tomorrow or something like that..."

"understood. Good night Eren."
Mikasa muttered into the blanket.

After a few minutes, I heard regular breathing, she must had fallen asleep. Well.
Then I could close my eyes now too.

"Eren! Mikasa?"
I opened my eyes, was it already morning?
"Eren, good you are awake..."

I sat up, next to me, Mikasa had just woken up.
"In how many minutes does the training start, Armin?"
I yawned and stretched myself.

"Umm, can you explain to me beforehand, what Mikasa is doing in your bed...?"

Right!
The events of the night buzzed through my head.
I blushed.
"It is nothing what you think!
She had a nightmare and I- "

"Oh boy...  first Reiner and Berthold and now you two too, am I the only one staying single?"
Armin shook his head.

"What? Reiner and Berthold?!"
I gasped in shock.

"Calm down, I'm just joking! But they are still a bit suspicious..."

"I can confirm, that I asked Eren if I could sleep with him in his bed,
because I had a nightmare..."
Mikasa explained.
Finally she had said something too!
"That was childish, I am sorry."

"See? It is true and now let us get up and get ready, we have to train hard again soon!"
I looked at both of my friends with a stern look.
Both nodded.
