Chapter 2

Reńee pov

Today was the day that I pack my all of my belongings and move out of me and my best friends apartment

I groan at the thought of being away from her

She's all I've known since I was 14

She's helping me pack my things, we both don't say anything, I sigh and turn around

"It's ok to cry ya know" I say to her and she laughs "you wish loser" I continue to watch her

I see that she bites her trembling lip, I make my way over to her and wrap my arms around her "I'll call you everyday and you can come visit me" I say to her as she sobs in my arms

Tears slip down my face, she sniffs and wipes her face "Te visitaré todos los días, lo prometo" she says nodding wiping her eyes
(Translation: I'm gonna come visit you every single day, I promise)

"You better" I say wiping my own tears, we both smile at each other and continue to pack my things

Mr.Russo said he would send a car for me and my things today

This is it

We bring my things down to the black Cadillac Escalade SUV that's on the curb, all my neighbors were outside watching me put my things in the car

They probably think I'm getting deported

I chuckle at the thought and give my things to the driver

When we put the last bin in the car I sigh, I turn to best friend who is on the verge of tears and pull her into a hug, she squeezes me tight

"Miss Andrè, we have to go" the driver says with a blank face

I nod and say in Sophia's ear "Je t'aime, je promets de t'appeler plus tard" she nods tears slipping out of her eyes
(Translation: I love you, I promise to call you later)

We pull away from each other and I hop in the car, I roll the window down and wave to her as the driver pulls off

The drive to the house was long, I ended up drifting off to sleep

I feel someone shaking me and I instantly wake up, I look around and it's just the driver "We're here ma'am" I nod and give him a smile

I get out of the car and go to the trunk "we already grabbed your things, they're in your room"

"Oh you didn't have to do that, I could've gotten my things" I tell him walking away from the car with him following behind

"I was instructed to get your things" He says and I furrow my eyebrows "by who?" I ask

"Mr.Russo" He says in a duh voice

He walks ahead of me and opens the front door, I walk in and is greeted by Mr.Russo and Alessandro

"Your finally here Ms.Andrè" Alessandro says excitedly and I smile at the small boy in front of me

"Yes I am! So what do you want to do first" I say to him and he grabs my hand and starts pulling me

"Let's play dinosaurs" he says and I laugh "I don't know how to play dinosaurs Alessandro"

"Alessandro, let her settle in first" Mr.Russo booms "welcome Ms. Andrè, let me show you to your room" I nod and Alessandro lets my hand go and walks behind us

Mr.Russo put his hand on my back guiding me to my room "this is it, it gets pretty hot in here but we can fix that"

I shiver under his touch "o-ok" I stutter like an idiot, he smirks

He knows what he's doing

I feel his hand leave my back and I sigh in relief

I can't function correctly when he's touching me

"It is, est mignon" I say looking around the room, it's cluttered with my bags and bins all around but hey, it's something
(Translation: is cute)

"What did you say" Alessandro says looking at me weirdly, I chuckle and say "sorry, I said it's cute"

Mr.Russo is just watching us interact and it's pretty weird but whatever "you speak another language?"

"Yes, I told you during my interview" I say looking at him, he nods and chuckles

"Ah, I forgot" he says and we continue to walk, by now I can tell that we're going to Alessandro's room because the hallway is basically filled with toys

We stop at a door and Alessandro opens it, his room is damn near an apartment, his room is slightly smaller than mine but still

We walk inside and it's pretty clean, toys are scattered across the floor, he has carpet in here and has a queen size bed

His small self do not need all that

He pulls me so we are sitting on his bed "I can't wait for you to see my car collection tomorrow"

He has so much energy, so what goes up must come down

He crashed after 30 minutes of us playing with almost all of his toys

I shut the door softly so I don't wake him up

"He has lots of energy, yes" a deep voice says and I jump in fear and clench my chest

"oh mon Dieu, you almost gave me a heart attack" I say chuckling "but yes he does"
(Translation: oh my goodness)

Mr.Russo chuckles "are you hungry?" And I shrug my shoulders "I could eat I guess"

We make our way to the kitchen and it is gigantic

It kinda reminded me of the kitchen in the orphanage, we had a chef come every Friday and he made a traditional French dinner

I smile at the small memory, "Louis, vieni di sotto" Mr.Russo says into a speaker, I look at his side profile and boy does this man have a strong jaw line
(Translation: Louis, come downstairs)

I wanted to reach out and touch it, but I didn't

I hear footsteps and a large man comes around the corner, he has a large belly but he's also tall "Si Don" he says

We make eye contact and he says "Lei sa?" Mr.Russo shakes his head
(Translation: Does she know?"

"Nope, she's hungry" they both look at me and Mr.Russo says "what do you want to eat"

"Uh do you know how to make Soupe à l'oignon?" I say, it's a traditional French soup that is made with beef and onions and other things

"Ohh French girl si?" He says smiling and I nod my head smiling

He walks off to make my soup and it's now just me and Mr.Russo

It's just quiet now, both of us not really saying anything

Only thing that's heard is Louis making my soup, I sigh at the smell

"Why did you move here?" Mr.Russo says out of no where

"Huh of um, there was a program that they started that brought children to America, so I'm here legally if your wondering" I say scratching my head

He nods "I have work to do" I furrow my eyebrows and say "this late at night, what do you do" I look at the clock and it's close to midnight

He chuckles and says "I'll tell you one day" and walks away

First day down, and a lot more to go
