Being born in a middle-class family,
I was asked to close my eyes
When I see a man harassing me on my way on the streets at night.
Being born in a middle-class family,
I was asked to shut my ears,
When I hear men passing a comment
On me, or a woman who is in fear.
Being born in a middle-class family,
I was asked to avoid a sense of touch
When I saw a man abusing his powers by slipping his hands under my skirt.
I was asked and asked to forget my senses,
That proves I'm alive.
I was asked to quit working if I can't keep quiet.
But I wonder why we have to shut ourselves.
When a man can be changed.
Because of what I see every day.
He becomes gutsier every time I zip my lips in order to stay.
