It's my high school graduation. I step up to the stage right as the principal calls my name.
"Adonia Summers," she calls out. Shehands me the diploma with the little stamp on it that marks me as a honor roll student. However, she grabs my wrist and pulls me back before I can step off of the stage. "Be careful, okay?" I hear her faint whisper by my ear."The world isn't like high school. It's a lot harder to get to the top."
Not knowing what else to do, I smile, nod, and make my way off of the stage.
My best friend, Hazel, nudges me. "What was that all about?"
I shrug. "Honestly, I'm not sure. It was super weird."
