I stood on the dock at Sam's house, watching Sarah cut some meat for the BBQ.

"You excited?" She beamed up to me.

"I'm hungry and uncomfortable." I moaned at her, munching on a celery stick. "I don't even like celery!"

She laughed at me, "I remember that."

"When does it end?" I sighed, throwing the celery stick into the mustard sauce and taking another bite.

"I'll let you know." Sarah winked, putting the chopped chicken into a tub of spices to coat the meat in.

"I got the cake!" Bucky shouted over the music and general chitchat from friends and Sam's neighbours, coming through the crowds and placing the beautifully decorated vanilla sponge cake on a nearby table.

I walked over and took a peak, "Oh yes! I was just craving cake!"

"Ah, wait." Bucky pulled my hand away, kissing my knuckle gently. "Got to wait till later."

"But I'm craving some now." I whined like a toddler.

"That is why, I got you this." Bucky smirked and pulled out a little cupcake with a pastel flower sat on top of the pure white buttercream.

I smiled and squealed slightly, taking it off him happily, "This is why I love you."

He leaned in and kissed me gently. Every time our lips touched it felt like the first time. But this time, I needed cake. So I pulled away and bit in to the whole thing, paper flower and all.

Bucky just shook his head and laughed at me as he removed his jacket, showing off his metal arm in his shirt sleeves Tee.

He had hated wearing anything that showered off his arm, a reminder of what his life used to be. How he used to be. He felt that if  he hid it he could forget about it all and move on. But it didn't happen.

The three of us had worked hard over the passed year to overcome demons and hurdles in our way. Sam was now Captain America, as it should be. Bucky was finally smiling and happy with who he was; knowing his past does not define him. And me? Well, I had worked on my powers a lot and had most of them under control. I had worked out how to use my feelings to my advantage with siphoning, and how to store energy better. All in all, it's been a good year.

Sam bounded over and pulled Bucky into a huge bro-hug, "Congratulations, man."

Bucky smiled and patted his back, "Thanks man."

They broke apart and Sam took one look at me before putting his hands out, "You come here too. Gimme a hug before you get too big."

"I will eat you." I muffled as I finished off my cupcake.

"I have no doubt that you will try." Sam laughed and pulled me in. I loved how he held me when we hugged; he would wrap his arms around my shoulders and pull me as close as I could get. It was as if with every hug he was telling me that I was always safe with him. He would always protect me.

The BBQ was in full swing, food being served from at least five different fires going. And so much food I wasn't sure we'd all finish it.

I sat on a bench next to Sarah and her boys, laughing at their stories. Sam and Bucky caught my eye in the distance. They were stood away from the crowds of loved ones together....

As the sunset, Bucky and Sam stood away from everyone for a moment of peace together.

"You scared?" Sam asked Bucky, smirking slightly

"Terrified." Bucky sighed but smiled too. He wasn't lying, he was petrified. But so excited.

"Don't be." Sam turned to his best mate and lay his arm over his shoulders, "you'll be a great dad."

"Come on you two!" I shouted over to them, "I need to see if this thing is a girl or boy!" I smiled excitedly, standing behind the cake Bucky had brought over earlier.

"A little Samuel or Samantha." Sam smirked making his way over with Bucky.

"Nothing's set in stone yet. We still have 4 months to sort out names." Bucky smirked, moving round the table and standing next to me.

"They are perfect names!" Sam protested.

"OK, look, I need more cake so can we just do this!?" I said getting a little agitated by how long this was taking. I was hangry and hormonal for cake.

Bucky laughed and grabbed a knife, "I'll do it. I'm not sure I trust you this hangry with a knife."

"Wise man." Sam smirked and I glared at him.

Bucky cut a slice of the cake. He wrapped his metal arm around my waist, I held onto my small but growing bump, and he pulled the slice up....

"It's pink!" Sam shouted. "Finally a girl!
Sorry boys" he smiled down to his nephews.

Everyone cheered and clapped. Sarah and her boys popped some confetti over the table. I was still in shock.

"A girl." Bucky smiled and wrapped his arms around me putting the cake back onto the plate.

"A little girl" I smiled up to Bucky

"A little you. Well, a littler you." He smirked. I pushed him gently before he pulled me in to his chest.

This was perfect. Everything I could ever want was right here.
