THE S-SYSTEM

*Ayanakoji's POV*

The Japanese government had created the Tokyo Metropolitan
Advanced Nurturing High School with the express purpose of developing
future leaders. This would be my school from now on.

'Okay, stop for a moment. Take a deep breath. All right, here we go!'
"Wait!"
The instant I tried to take my first courageous step, someone called out
to me. It was the girl who'd sat next to me on the bus.
(Ohhkay so most of u know what happened on the bus but still I am writing this for those who don't know. So Ayanakoji was traveling through a bus to come to the school. A girl named Kushida Kikiyo asked the passengers to give their seat to an old woman meanwhile ayanakoji was looking at this girl named Horikita Suzune.)
"You were looking at me. Why?" she asked.
She narrowed her eyes while we spoke.
"Sorry. I guess I was just interested, is all. I mean, you didn't think
about giving up your seat to the old woman, did you?"
"That's right. I didn't consider giving it up. Is there something wrong
with that?"
"Oh, no, not at all. I didn't intend to give up my seat, either. In fact, I
firmly abide by the philosophy of letting sleeping dogs lie. I dislike trouble."
"You dislike trouble? Then I don't think you and I are anything alike. I
didn't give up my seat because I thought it would be pointless. That's all."
"But doesn't that seem worse than just not liking trouble?"
"Perhaps. I'm simply acting according to my own beliefs. That's
different from someone who just dislikes trouble, like you. I don't want to
spend any time around people like you."
"I feel the same way," I muttered.
I had only wanted to share my opinion, but I wasn't too keen on going
back and forth with her like this. We both sighed and proceeded to walk in
the same direction towards the gymnasium.

*Horikita's POV*

Murmers could be heard across the gymnasium.
The reason was that the one who scored a perfect score in the entrance exam was speaking like he was superior to every other student. Most of the students would agree that he is wrong but I have a different opinion. To put it simply I agree with his thinking. People who are good in academics are far superior to those who are not. In this world only your knowledge matters while I was lost in these thoughts my eyes landed on a boy I met a while ago. I don't think he told me his name when I met him, even if he had I wouldn't have bothered to remember it. I can easily tell just by looking at his pathetic expressionless face, he is one of those students who don't really care about what's going in the class, a student who is socially awkward and struggles to even score passing marks and on top of that who thinks he is above others. Truly a disappointing sight.

*Ayanakoji's POV*

I disliked the entrance ceremony and imagined that many first-year
students probably felt the same. The principal and the students exchanged
excessive words of gratitude, there was far too much time spent standing in
lines, and, with so many irritating things to deal with, it all felt like a huge
pain in the butt. But there were some things which piqued my interest. First was the white haired boys behaviour. He was openly admitting that he does not care about other students but there was something off about him my instincts were telling me to stay away from this student if I had to protect my peaceful life. Second was the speech the chairman gave, what exactly did he mean by 'in this school you will have to aim for both perfection and progress' and that question in the last 'Are people equal or not' but if he asked me then my answer would be, "No, we are not equal." To be human is to be
unequal. Equality does not exist.
